  • I personally feel that Canada and South America are some of the damn best audiences in the world. I of course think the same of Europe and some parts of the USA but I enjoy the energy from Canada and South American shows in the bootlegs more than any other. Just my humble opinion though. The fans from those two areas put on a hell of a show of there own and are damn supportive. If anything, those two areas should be staples in Pearl Jam's touring traditions on a more regular and versatile basis.

Honestly, I think it's damn time that they play in Montreal! I guess I'm a bit sold out 'cause I'm originally from there but seriously, the energy of the Mtl people is amazing for shows. Other than 2000 where the boys had technical problems on stage, anytime they played the Molson/Bell Center and even the old Verdun Auditorium, they've been amazing live.

I'm still surprised that they didn't play there since 05, knowing that Toronto had them twice in 06 and another time in 09. I was there for two of them and... those shows were ok. Don't take it personal Toronto people and don't start throwing shit at me but I always thought that the energy was way better in Montreal than Toronto. And nothing will beat some punks shows at the Medley or the Metropolis!

Anyway, hopefully that rumor for a Montreal show in mid-september will come true 'cause I'll surely be there and hopefully my friends from Philly too!

 Are you interested in a political career John Briggs 2008? If you are you've got my vote. Anybody that can see the true passion that us Canadians have for the band and their music really has their shit together!

check your facts....they sold 16000 tickets in Winnipeg in 30 min...thats a whole lot more then any city in the south...The south is a dead market for rock shows...Ive been to many down there...Winnipeg gets every major rock show plus some that alot of big southern cities dont get...Im sure 2 pearl jam shows here in 5 years is not a crazy idea...Tom Petty and the Eagles have been here twice in two years...

I will check my facts, and the glaring omission that you have is the travel and transport factor. It easily takes a full day each way to get into and out of Winnipeg and on to the next venue... It would be an extremely tight squeeze to move equipment fast enough to get to another venue to play the next night.... so there's that to contend with...

The reason that bands like Tom Petty and The Eagles continuously come to WInnipeg is because they have exhausted all their other cities... let's be honest, if Tom petty played 2 or 3 nights at the same venue, his per night sales would drop substantially... I mean he he's been to Houston 3 times in the last 2 years alone, none of which have sold out...

And of course anything that goes to Winnipeg is going to sell out.... What else is there to do in Winnipeg?

And I don't know what rock shows you've been to in the south, but in the last month I've seen Tool, Iron Maiden, MGMT, Neil Young, and have passed up countless others.... the south is not dead to rock... you are nutz.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I agree with everything you have to say... :D

I've gotten to see a few shows at the Bell Center, never PJ, but the crowd there is always awesome... and so so so so so loud... I think during an encore break there at a Chili Peppers concert the cheering of the crowd actually ruptured my ear drums... it was deafening...

I remember hearing on a bootleg at some point that Ed had said this was their th show in 7 nights. So the travel isnt that big of a deal.

  • MTS Centre in Winnipeg is the 8th busiest venue in NORTH AMERICA. Not because there's nothing else to do, actually, quite the contrary. It's actually quite often where I have to choose which band/artist to go see on a given night. Not like Toronto or Vancouver, of course, but enough that it can sometimes annoy me.

It's a fabulous venue, and it's the centre of NA. Very easy to travel to/from. That's why we get more concerts than many other mid-sized Canadian cities; bands can do a quick detour up from Minneapolis on their US tours.

+1. Frankly, I don't know or care whether it is the 10C or the shipping service they opt to use, but it is deplorable how long it takes for anything purchased from the Ten Club to arrive on Canadian doorsteps.

They should start the tour in Halifax at the beginning of October and work there way out west ending in Vancouver on Oct.20 and then we'll be nice and close for the Oct.22 show in Seattle. 8-)

I like the way you think! :D

I like this idea! I vote for either the Gorge or Easy Street Records for venues. Or El Corozon (the Present Day Off Ramp Cafe). The Key Arena didn't do them much justice last year IMO.

I'm not picky... as long as Pearl Jam plays the same locations within Ontario that they did in '05, I'd be fine with that.

    I second this!

i third that, i sadly was getting into pearl jam after they played in london. :'(
