In the time we live in, people lose jobs for way less - people have lost jobs for posting something on facebook. We may not like it but that's the way it is. Anyone with common sense knows you don't trash talk the boss in public if you'd like to keep your job. I am eagerly awaiting my issue of said rag, and look forward to reading the article. Replacing him with Petraeus is a brilliant move however.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

I'm expecting the magazine to sell out fast! I think a lot of folks are anxiously waiting....I know I am....

Kudos to RS for printing this story. As we all have learned by now this type of talk is forbidden by the military code of conduct. so I say good for RS for bringing it to light because NBC's parent GE wouldn't want to loose any defense contracts.0

you need to give that up already... seriously who cares that much...0 -

c'mon man, this isn't the cuban missile crisis...it's a pissed off general popping off about his commander in chief on the record...no self respecting journalist would pass on this one...regardless of his political leanings0 -

I find it kind of amazing that a person can say this and actually be enough of a fan to be a member of ten club-

you all are right and I'm not arguing that at all I just feel the reporter could have kept his mouth shut about what ever it is McCrystal said that was so bad...but maybe Petraeus will be the guy to help bring the crap to an end (war).

sorry Norm I'm a old school guy who grew up learning to keep my mouth shut and I don't disagree with you or the others about this,it just pisses me off that this reporter would rat out a military general over a comment he recorded, things like this could have a adverse effect on more people than just McCrystal..not that they will this time but still what else will this reporter leek out that could have worse repercussions ?

I still don't see how you can blame the reporter on this one... Any reporter doing and interview would have written those comments. Great, you grew up learning to keep your mouth shut... but by job description, a reporter is paid to speak/write, not keep his/her mouth shut. Like said above, this wasn't sitting on a story about the Cuban Missile Crisis or anything, this was a General's comments that he knowingly made to a reporter and showed no regret in doing so.
The reporter said he fact checked with McCrystal afterward, and there was no hesitation confirming what was said... And worse was said "off the record". So, it seems to me that either McCrystal was just so frustrated with civilian leadership that he didn't care, or that he was looking for a way out of his position. A career military man and four star General doesn't make that sort of careless mistake without knowing it would be printed, and knowing the consequences. Every single military talking head I've seen on TV the night before he was relieved, said that McCrystal had to go... They knew what action had to be taken, and you gotta bet that McCrystal did too.My whole life

personally Godfather, i'd be a little more concerned that the now ex Commander of the International Security Assistance Force was such a blabbermouth and didn't have enough common sense to know that his comments would clearly be deemed to be out of line.
lets hope he has been a lot more selective in regards to security when he has been shooting his mouth off.
just a thought of course.0 -
Bry my opinion is what it is man and I'm not changing it,no disrespect to you or anybody else that side with the reporter, that also is what it is right ..it's all good and I just gave my opinion.
fact is I think the media has waaay to much power, they have a great influence on the world and how the people see and hear the current events and in my opinion they should be careful what and how they report in the news.

you see, in the early seventies there was a President named Richard Nixon who lost his job because of an article written by Two reporters named Bob Woodward (republican) and Carl Bernstein.
It's freedom of the press plain and simple, it's in the Bill of rights in the constitution. You know, that document conservatives follow in theory but actually hate when it goes against their personal opinions.
Don't worry, McChrystal will be fine. He'll have a book out soon and a nice cozy spot on Fox soon enough.0 -
were they around during the Kennedy era ? you know when JFK was banging Miss Monroe or how about the presidents before JFK.? who made deals with the mafia ?
there was lots of shady stuff during those years that the reporters did not dare put to print..they knew better.
we can go back and forth all day ...dose it matter ? you will not change my opinion.
