Thanks a million CJMST3K! This is my first humble effort at framing- a simple single mat job.

Hoff, can I ask your advice? I have posters, setlists, tickets and picks that I want to frame, ideally together but I'm not sure how it would work out. Would it be better to frame the setlists, picks and tickets separate from the posters? In particular, Cleveland, Hartford and MSG2... really special shows to me, so I think they need something a little special. Thanks :)

    Hey Tone,

It may be nice to frame completely separate from the posters, especially with such a large collection. I find framing a ticket or whatnot with the poster distracting for the poster, but for those who have a smaller collection, it may be the most practical thing to do.

I'm a person who likes tactile objects to look like it.

Lets say you have 2 setlists that are crumpled looking... and some picks, and some tix. How about a semi-deep shadowbox? And all of the items on top of the matting, just like they would look laying on a table?

Hanging on a wall, objects laying casually like this in a frame, caddy corner or askew, can add some interest. Wrinkles in the setlist and all.

    :)
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

    I thought u guys might like a laugh....I cant stop laughing :)
I bought a Newark poster on Ebay and it was shipped to Australia and arrived today.
Newark poster sent airmail for $20US Wrapped in Christmas paper like a present with the crease of the folder christmas paper down the poster. Then folded over and sealed the entire way around with sticky tape.
And then rolled up and put into the tube.
At least I know this guy isnt ninersfan flippin posters..hahahah
Both ends of the poste was stuffed with two pieces of crunched up newspaper for added protection ..LOL
I will say tho the ends of the tube were very well sealed with the most stickiest tape imagineable.. :)
The stamp on the tube was for $10.76. I guess the difference of $9.24 was for the special packaging :)

That sucks. I sent a $300 poster to France a few weeks ago and was worried constantly it would arrive ok...you shouldnt have to worry about the packing method! Was the poster in bad shape?

I have to admit, that I have used christmas paper instead of craft paper before when rolling a print into a tube too, but only went I needed to transport my own stuff, and before I got my portfolio.... it does the trick! (mine was santa clause on his sleigh though, not christmas trees)

I almost mailed out a poster with wrapping paper! The cheaper side of me was getting to me... but then I got yelled at for using the expensive wrapping paper, and went and bought acid free white paper.

Whats wrong with wrapping paper? I wouldn't make a package out of it, but I think its good enough protection considering the buyer should take it out of the tube soon anyway.

It wasn't the fact the wrapping paper was used it was the fact it was actually wrapped in
wrapping paper that measured 43" by 37". The wrapping paper was folded dead bang in half the edge of
the poster was sitting on the crease the the rest of the wrapping paper folded over the poster
then then about 5" of paper was folded and creased and then folded back and then taped down with sticky tape this was done the whole way around the poster. Then it was rolled up and placed in the tube.

I was amazed it wasn't creased and the edges bent.
It was advertised as Mint with no nicks, dings or creases......
It had one obvious ding about Mikes head and some crease marks where it was rolled...
    But not that bad.
Its laying flatenned between two boards atm so I hope they will all vanish.

I was surprised that poster seemed to be not as thick as card..

I was just really surprised how it was sent.
I guess after receiving posters from 10c and Wishlist I was expecting it to be
wrapped how they do their posters ..
At least it didnt come folded into quarters or something...

Normally that framing (including museum quality Artcare double matting, conservation glass, museum Artcare foamboard, and blue striped frame) would cost $265. Right now I'm having a group-framing-special, and the more people who participate, the lower the price goes. I had several price brackets, depending on how many frames were being made, and we have such an amazing response (39 frames so far) that we are now in the lowest price bracket - $159 +shipping and packaging. For those getting 2 framed I'm eating the $25 packaging fee from The UPS Store.

Here's the thread, and you can join in until July 1st.

I'm pretty sure if you dig back through this thread you will find someone who framed a LA3 and did a great job... I can't remember how far back it is and I'm too lazy to dig right now...

as for the san diego poster.... i suggest you burn it.... i don't think i've seen one of those done.

I wish I could say yes but the stub you see in the frame with Perth actually belongs with noblesville. I had it paperclipped to the noblesville poster and my framer STILL screwed it up. Kind of annoying but he's fixing it for no charge.

Ok... no offense but... neither of the mat colours match the print colours very well... is the picture not doing it justice, or am I crazy?

Like the rounded mat on the ames though... it's an interesting thought, I have some art that would work well with...

I should post some pictures or EMEK's Bee handbill I just got back... I'll do it when I get home... playing the waiting game before framing my prints from this tour... waiting on an AP of hampton from Hartford and New Orleans from BK... going to make my judgement call between the two when I have both in front of me... girlfriend says I'm only allowed to do 1 from the 3 shows I attended...

Thanks, I try to get a color that is close to the main color in the poster. The 5/20 poster looks much better in person - those are phone pics.

the rounded matte was an idea I ran by the person at Michael's and she said not a problem. I think most places should be able to do it.

I try not to have my mat too overpowering, so I'll not usually go with a main colour from the poster, but try and get something more subtle. Having said that, I think the mats you chose work fine. Everyone has their own thoughts thought, so might not suit others.
