He can't write a song for shit either. Corporate rock slop. Foo Fighters are the new Styx.
  • Let' see.. he's played with Paul McCartney Jimmy Page John Paul Jones Brian May The Who Bruce Springsteen Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan (who wants to record "Everlong"), Lemmy, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana.... yeah he sucks..... So he shouts and sings out of key sometimes who the fuck hasn't done that? He's a punk at heart....

it's rock n roll! who says you have to be a good singer? Most lead singers in rock bands can't technically sing. He sure can play the drums though! I think the TCV record is brilliant! The Colour & The Shape is a great record to.

I don't think Dave has the best voice but the Foo Fighters live to me are just so much fun ... and I find Dave to be an awesome front man.

I've been lucky enough to see them a couple of times at 2-300 capacity venues (Foo's keep up the secret shows when you come to London ;)) ... and was also front row at the show facepollution posted  I just love the energy and crowd vibe at a Foo's show ... guess everyone experiences a show differently *shrug*

They're probably the band I've seen the most times live, and they've never disappointed. You're right too, the band/crowd interaction and energy is always so much fun to be a part of.

Ok he's sometimes a bit shit at singing live but it works for what it is. On record he's ok but I don't think the Foos are really an exciting band. Each to their own, the guy has made a fortune from what he does and he's not short of talent. Personally I love TCV but I wouldn't if it was him on vocals.

Foo fighters are one of my fave bands. Seen them 3 times.

I think the whole screaming thing is just part of what makes a foo fighters show what it is.

Kinda like Ed flubbing lyrics all the time- he does it jokingly and in a tongue and cheek manner most of the time. It's just part of seeing a pj show it's part of the package.

    same deal with Dave screaming-

That's a shame, he said he loves your singing! :D

I was at both of the Wembley shows as well and they were 2 of the most fun gigs I've been to in a long time. So what if he's not the best singer in the world, he is a great frontman especially live.

I do think he screams more live and sounds better on record but he's a great frontman

Foos put on a great, fun show, that'll make your ears ring a little bit. Sure, Dave's not really a "good" singer, but he can write a good, catchy tune that's fun to listen to, especially when running.

I'm not really looking for deep meaning and conceptual, layered music when listening to the Foos, just something that's fun to listen to! And yea, they're one of my favorites. Seen 'em three times, including what I thought would be my last visit to the Spectrum.

"I pass the boats and the Kingdome... I'm not scared!"

I love that line, even if I never saw the Kingdome.

  • I'd like to know what constitutes a "good singer". I personally think he's a great singer. Does he sing like Robert Plant? No, but for his music it wouldn't suit.

    Dave's singing? Not so great
    Do I care? Nope

Love the Foo and thoroughly enjoy them live. I guess it truly does depend a lot on what one expects to see going in or what their preconcieved notions about a band are sometimes. Dave is one of the best frontmen around in my book and their shows are so damned energetic and fun its unreal.
Actually, I don't get the rabid fascination and love so many seem to have for TCV. That record to me is at best mediocre.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • Foos were fun when I saw them live in 2007. They have far too much filler on their albums and get a bit too cock rockish lyrically for me to really get into them like I do with Pearl Jam etc. I think Grohl is a bit too whacky sometimes, it's fine to be funny but you've got to be serious too. I think Eddie live right now is the perfect mix, will perform songs seriously with some smiles too, crack some jokes, tell some serious stories in between songs.
