Overall I've always found FF to be a little boring. But yeah, just my opinion too.

I like the Foo Fighters but have only seen them once and it was a great show, good energy
I do think he screams more live and sounds better on record but he's a great frontman

Foos put on a great, fun show, that'll make your ears ring a little bit. Sure, Dave's not really a "good" singer, but he can write a good, catchy tune that's fun to listen to, especially when running.

I'm not really looking for deep meaning and conceptual, layered music when listening to the Foos, just something that's fun to listen to! And yea, they're one of my favorites. Seen 'em three times, including what I thought would be my last visit to the Spectrum.

"I pass the boats and the Kingdome... I'm not scared!"

I love that line, even if I never saw the Kingdome.

  • I'd like to know what constitutes a "good singer". I personally think he's a great singer. Does he sing like Robert Plant? No, but for his music it wouldn't suit.

    Dave's singing? Not so great
    Do I care? Nope

Love the Foo and thoroughly enjoy them live. I guess it truly does depend a lot on what one expects to see going in or what their preconcieved notions about a band are sometimes. Dave is one of the best frontmen around in my book and their shows are so damned energetic and fun its unreal.
Actually, I don't get the rabid fascination and love so many seem to have for TCV. That record to me is at best mediocre.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • Foos were fun when I saw them live in 2007. They have far too much filler on their albums and get a bit too cock rockish lyrically for me to really get into them like I do with Pearl Jam etc. I think Grohl is a bit too whacky sometimes, it's fine to be funny but you've got to be serious too. I think Eddie live right now is the perfect mix, will perform songs seriously with some smiles too, crack some jokes, tell some serious stories in between songs.

if he didn't yell or scream i'd go see them live. his voice on the skin and bones is awesome.

yeah, Skin & Bones is awesome. I think if he relaxes he sounds pretty good.

He can't write a song for shit either. Corporate rock slop. Foo Fighters are the new Styx.

    Can't write for shit?????
Now you are being a total ass.

    First 2 albums are amazing!
They have classic songs... Everlong, My Hero, Hey Johnnie Park, Enough Space, Wattershed, Weenie Beenie plus Generator off #3 is brilliant!

You are a douche for saying that
I had it all once I gave it back

Yeah no doubt.... Dave Grohl seems like a pretty cool mfer

I'm not necessarily keen on humor makin it's way into music that's not generally meant to be funny. Maybe I could understand that, but hatin on a guy for jokin too much is ridiculous.

I was front row at the TCV show, and at one point Dave and I were making faces at eachother...

    He started it.

I wish I saw them a couple years back, their shows look like a lot of fun. I'll agree Dave can't sing but I've always loved a few of their earlier songs. As for TCV, I honestly haven't given them a fair listen yet...

he is, i met him years ago in a 7-11 when i lived in northern virginia. we talked for a few minutes, it seemed like he didn't really have an ego like some musicians

Ummmmm, are you fucking kidding?? Nickelback are the new Styx. Now, that's corporate rock, NOT the Foo Fighters!

I remember hearing This is a Call on the radio back in 1995 and thinking the singer had one of the coolest sounding voices I've heard... and then I found out it was Dave Grohl. I doubt Grohl would have been given a chance to flourish if he had not been Nirvana's drummer, but that's an indictment of the music industry, not Grohl. Although the quirky and raw sound of the first FF record still sounds the best to me, I love everything he's done (except for that cheesy Wheels song) and he's funnier than most comedians too. And he's made some truly beautiful music... like Aurora from the 3 disc, and many other tracks throughout the years.

"dave grohl cant sing for shit" hahahahahahahahahaha that's just ridiculous

ahahahaha i love Sunday morning wake & bakes and reading insane opinions.

"Look at those people in the last row up there... Ain't that a bitch! Maybe next time you'll get to the ticket office a little earlier!"
