I think back in 2003, the reason they offered the low quality mp3s when you purchased the CD was because they didn't have downloads for sale like they do now. Only CD versions of the bootlegs. So at the time, the digital download was viewed more as a bonus - now it's a viable (and more profitable) business.

makeks sense. Anybody have a ballpark estimate of what the turnaround time to receive the actual CD is? Part of me wants the tunes now, but there's something about having the CD in my own hands that will probably win out.

Somebody here correct me if i'm wrong. but if you buy the CD, isn't it just a burned disc, not pressed like they used to be? I opted for FLAC files for the KC show, because I have my own high quality Made In Japan CD-Rs to burn them on. But if these shows were on pressed discs like back in 2000, 2003, i'd consider purchasing the St Louis show that way.

yeah, that would be good to know!

I'm totally a novice on the digital music specifications. I have an iPod and use iTunes to play all music. My (BASIC) understanding is that FLAC is a higher quality storage, but that's about all I know.

    A) Is FLAC noticeably superior?
    B) Can it be played through iTunes, or is it one of those things that converting it to iTunes friendly format would degrade the sound quality, thus making it pointless to buy the more expensive file format in the first place?

FLAC is lossless audio, meaning there is no quality loss compared to an .MP3 which is compressed lossy audio. As to whether a FLAC file sounds "noticeably superior" to an mp3 file depends on the person hearing it. I would say most people couldn't hear the difference, but it greatly depends on the person and what equipment you are hearing the music on. Great quality speakers will sometimes show the faults of mp3 files better than just listening on your ipod or on your computer. Long answer short - I would say MP3 files will sound great for most people. I'm however picky, and I always opt for FLAC files and then make my own mp3s from them which brings us to your next question.

FLAC files can be converted to mp3 files with some free software that you can google. I used FLAC frontend program to convert flacs to WAV files, so I can burn them to a CD. Converting them to mp3 will not hurt the quality of them any more than if you had just bought them as MP3s from the Ten Club in the first place. In fact, you have more control over the compression if you make MP3s yourself.[/b]

a.) Yes, flac is noticeably superior. Listen to it underneath a good pair of headphones.
b.) Yes, you can play flacs through itunes, using Fluke: http://blowintopieces.com/fluke/

    http://flac.sourceforge.net/itunes.html

Few user's have had problems with the Fluke app. IMO, I would just make a backup of the Flac, then encode it to Lame V0 MP3 (Variable Bitrate) using the app dBpoweramp Music Converter. Best app on the market!

I'm listening to the New Orleans boot, and the band sound loads better than they did last year. The mix is better, the band sounds tighter and Ed sounds much better too.

I love the fact that this great band release every live show, since 2000.At times,it can be overwhelming. My friend and I, combined, have collected every show since 2000.How can you listen to so many great shows????Well, they way I listen to alot of my boots..is date oriented.Example, today is 05.16.10.So this evening I will listen to the Chicago gig, from this date in 2006....05.16.06.Tomorrow will b night 2 in Chicago..05.17.06.Thats my way to break it up.Its a great problem to have.I know I will be ordering a bunch of boots from 2010.I know Im a bit shot but..what can I say.....I love this band...God forbid other bands did this.iTunes actually has most of the US shows for sale from the 2006 tour.Cant wait for Newark and MSG 1...... :D

Well I wish it was every show, because then I could get the Vote for Change tour 2004, and the Vic show from 2007 - but yes, the overwhelming majority of the shows are available, and that is just another reason why I love this band.

Listening to KC now. Stone is a little low in the mix on the opener, and on Animal too.

Help me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't he be a little more prominent?

Going crazy waiting for STL, decided to wait for it before ordering KC and Philly. Drove up from Dallas for KC and STL and had a blast. Both were great great shows.
