The Chicago shows seem to get lost in the shuffle. I'm a fan of the setlist for night 1, but night 2 was prolly the better overall show. If you wanna hear new songs this isn't the show for you, though they did play about as much new stuff as on the current tour.
Philly3
LA3 & LA4
Chicago2
I havent heard Philly4 yet, but seems to get a lot of votes! (i ordered the box set)
Vancouver
Brisbane
Melbourne
Christchurch
Philly 4 had an amazing setlist, but rarities/debuts in and of themselves don't make for a great show. Philly 3 was better based on the boots I've heard. I also really liked Berlin and Chicago 1.
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

Chicago night 1 was terrible, great songs were played, but in lousy order. I felt like PJ was on shuffle that night. One song would rock, then the air would get sucked out of the building by the next choice.....If I never hear Come Back at a show again it will be too soon.

having attended both chicago and philly 3 & 4, i will say this. the chicago shows were solid, nothing wrong with them, but they weren't in the same league as the philly shows. philly had a major buzz about them. you knew going in that they would be awesome, and they delivered.

I've seen this band just over 40 times since 2004, in Europe, Hawaii, and just about everywhere in between..
With that said, Philly night 3 is not only the best PJ show of 09, not only the best PJ show period (for my taste), but the best live show I've ever seen in my life (which is well over 250 shows and 8 or 9 festivals )
I totally understand the hype about 10/31, and that was an amazing show.. But I have been chasing certain songs all over the globe ( breath, tremor christ, parting ways) and to get them all in the same show was overwhelming.. Parting ways had me in tears
I love this band.
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have
in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...
one with the raging wind, alive on the highest tides, my ship at sail can climb a mountain.. ride it to the sky

I've still never got round to completing my 09 boots! Still need to get Salt Lake, Chicago 1 + 2, and San Fransisco. Soon be time for the 2010 ones but I need to save pennies for the tour before I start going bootleg mad again. Oh and I need to save for nappies!!

The best show was the one you were at ... it always is, and always will be.
Trying to convince someone that a show they were not at is better than a show they were at is a fruitless endeavor.
i agree, this did get a little side tracked. i appreciate all the input and will probably download the shows and compile a mix for the trip to newark. PUMPED!!! thanks again everyone
