    f**k the nay-sayers, cuz they don't mean a thing.

Anytime you can gather PJ die-hards to hang, share stories, and get psyched up for a pending concert should be a blessing. Doesn't matter what bar or what cover band is playing...that's all gravy. We all know how special these shows are and they won't last forever so we should be thankful that PJ is our favorite band and tour as much as they do. They are the most fan-friendly band since the Greatful Dead, and their following proves this fact.

So let's spread the love come 5/17. It's a holiday everytime they play as far as I am concerned.

I don't care if we meet up by a dumpster on Tremont Street and swig Pabst Blue Ribbon out of cans, as long as we're all talking PJ and getting ready for the show!

Why does everyone hate on the Pabst???

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with the Red, White, and Blue.

I can't wait and appreciate that someone has brought negativity to a fundraiser. You're awesome thank you.

this chick has had a grudge against backseat lover for a long time now ... im probably not going to get this right... but it's something like this

a while back she was writing some article or something and since the lead singer didn't bow down and kiss her boots she decided that he was nothing but an eddie wannabe ... sorry he didn't drop everything so you could get a great story for your blog with 17.5 followers

i know some PJ fans are against Tribute bands from the start... these people know what they like... that's fine

but I've never heard of a Pearl Jam fan seeing this band and coming away thinking anything but ... wow that was fun/cool

we know they're not pearl jam... they know they're not pearl jam...
but if you like pearl jam... seeing BSL is a good fn time

as for the Harp... I'm not typically a fan but it's a friggin Monday before a PJ show...and it has a stage... we will take it over and it will be far from the typical Harp crowd...

I saw a PJ coverband in Australia back in '93 or '94 when I was tired of waiting for them to tour  I just NEEDED to hear their songs live. They were actually good, but I can't remember what they were called.

Are we going to get a roll call for this bash?
I'm in - flying in from Seattle for this. Never been to Boston before and looking forward to spending time in this city, hearing BSL and watching a bunch of other PJ freaks getting piss-drunk before the show.

The Harp is strictly Bridge & Tunnel

What is this of which you speak? "Bridge & Tunnel?"

It means only people who aren't from Boston would hang at the Harp pre-show. The Harp truly, truly sucks. Expensive, crowded... no thanks.

Says someone from Cambridge. Yea, you're hardcore.

You are correct sir, whoever you are. Although I sort of take offense to being referred to as a "chick." It has nothing to do with the lead singer not kissing my boots (something I would not recommend to anyone, actually). I am a writer, that is true, and was doing a little something a la "Fargo Rock City" on BSL in Boston & the surrounding areas. Like... New Hampshire.

They are just a bad band, but they can pull you out of a 3 year drought if PJ is not touring, I won't deny that. But to see them, at the Harp, right before the real thing? That just goes to the band's cashing in on coattails that are not rightfully theirs.

or did you not want my opinion?

Also the Harp legit sucks. It's all tourists & this thread has proved that. If you want me, I'll be next to that fun dumpster with the PBR. I'll write a check for Project Bread.

I'm sure nobody will be disappointed that your not attending the pre-party. We are all going to have an awesome time hanging out and rocking out to Backseat Lover before Pearl Jam. As I stated before in this thread Negative people need not attend and sour everyone's mood. :)

Also, Backseat Lover recently donated a large sum of money and several big raffle items to the Team McCready fundraiser in Boston. They are a group of extremely generous guys. They are definitely not looking to "cash in".

Does it really matter that the Harp is a tourist place at this point though? It's one night, hang with some fellow fans, rock out to BSL...Drink better beer than PBR....... ;)

As for BSL as a band, they are great, they have a huge following of hard-core PJ fans, the members themselves are hard-core fans. They are not trying to cash in on anything, they are playing tribute to the band. And as for cashing in, they recently played a full house for a Wishlist benefit where they donated ALL of the funds to the foundation. The band's drummer also donated several high-ticket items as well to the auction.

I can't wait for this event and the PJ show! It's going to be fabulous!
