b/c i think a day of food with NYC and maui...well...it'll get pricey....;)
Note to self: Start saving food money and/or stocking up on Cliff Bars.
oh, no worries...there are some cheap eats in NY.
i was simply referencing a foodie tour with mauichick would NOT be cheap. especially with all the drinking too.
i am so psyched for these shows - and to meet and see old and new friends!Stay with me...

I booked our flight earlier this week. From St. Louis to LaGuardia. I think both tickets round trip were only $420.00 total (including taxes, fees, etc) and no stops. American Airlines.
Can't wait. We had planned on going to MSG shows back in 2008, but had to cancel that trip. So we are psyched about it this year. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals. Ghandi0 -

end of may is a beautiful time to be here. usually fairly gorgeous weather, but not too hot & humid.
EXACTLY 7 weeks from today!

Yes, plenty of cheap, good eats in NYC if you know where to look! Try checking out timeoutny.com, or pick up a copy of the mag when you get here.
Before canolis, head to Nyonya on Grand St between Mott & Mulberry. Next to Ferrara's!! Great Malaysian food. You can get a meal for under $10. It's not even dumpy anymore since they moved and got new furniture.0 -

I'm excited about eating some NYC food. I am a vegetarian living in a rural area of the Midsouth - not many good food options for me. We have BBQ places on every corner. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals. Ghandi0

Another great place to eat is Menchanko 55 on 55th between 5th and 6th. Had dinner there last night. UMMMMMM. The pork dumpling and the house special noodles- again- UMMM. And relatively cheap- less than $18 (sans tip) for a big bowl of noodles and the dumpling and a drink0

Ooh, plenty of veggie options! You're not vegan are you? There's even a great vegan cupcake place! For starters, here are some good ones, where you can eat EVERYTHING on the menu:
Franchia: Korean tea house http://www.franchia.com/index.htm
Madras Mahal (or most Indian places, for that matter): http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/madras-mahal/
Vegetarian Dim Sum House: http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/ve ... sum-house/

Ooh, I second this. There's also a Menchanko on the East side, 45th & Lex.
I'm drooling reading this thread0 -

If I lived in NYC I would be a vegan. But at this point I am only a veggie. If I was a vegan I would have to cook all of my own food or eat lettuce everytime I ate out.
Thanks for the suggestions. They are all going on my list. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals. Ghandi0 -
Oh hell, why not just do a food tour: http://www.foodsofny.com/
And this too, it seems more affordable: http://walkingtoursmanhattan.com/. For current NYC residents, there's an Easter Chocolate tour this Sunday!
I've always wanted to do one of them, just never got round to it!0 -
For those of you who have a few extra bucks and want to go to some of the higher end (according to Zagats) restaurants around town, Zagat has a listing of Lunch specials for $35 and under per person at some of the most wonderful places for food, decor and service in the city... And these will include some of your favorite chefs from the food network... Stop in a book store and peruse the front section and look for lunch specials under $35... now trust me there are lots of great places where you can do better but sometimes it's worth it to splurge a little...0
