I completely understand that the demand is more than the supply. My problem is with the system. There is no reason to have to sit at my computer for nearly six hours to get tickets. I, thankfully, got a pair of MSG 2 tickets, but I genuinely feel for the people who didn't get any. This was a meltdown and I have a new found respect for Ticketmaster. Yes, the service charges suck, but at least it works smoothly. It has become increasingly more difficult to get tickets through the fan club for people in the Northeast. I'm not going to boycott or anything like that, but it was a ridiculous and unnecessary experience. I'm still really tense from the whole thing.

Service charges suck, but after yesterday, I hope we know where they go. Maybe if 10C charged $5-$7 per ticket in service fees, they could afford a better server.

I totally agree with the original post. The suggestion made about a potential lottery system (like the DMB fanclub) sounds practical; in addition to being less frustrating and time consuming.

I'll be hoping for a Ticketmaster miracle on Saturday morning. Good luck to everybody. At the very least, our fates will be decided a lot quicker.

Actually there is more demand than supply. Sorry I had to. I've read a bunch of these posts since the sales and most of them have made me laugh histerically. :D

After reading what you wrote I agree. Even though I got tix to Boston I think they should do what DMB does. They have a lottery and my wife more times than not got tix. That is the most fair way of doing things. One last thing, PJ if you're reading this please play Whip It in Boston. I need to add that to my mp3 player and can't wait for the Philly performance. Thanks. :D

A lottery would be a good idea. You open the lottery at whatever time and close 48 hours later. Everyone has equal chance of winning, no matter their 10C member number OR regardless of when they registered.

you guys are tools. its not the fan clubs fault that people who aren't going to shows log in and put tickets in their carts to see if they can and people who are undecided doing the same and holding them in their carts. Its obvious that these people are the ones to blame, they clog up the system unnecessarily, 10c made an effort to curb this with the 10 minute rule and it obviously didn't work as well as they had hoped, but it was the first time this rule was in place, give it some time. blame the idiots doing these things, not the fan club.

Tools? it's obvious these are the people to blame?! haha, you are a funny man and your post is as fitting as your name. that's the most ridiculous thing i've heard on here.

Regardless, This was the FIRST show that I was planning on going to that I saved enough money and was able to plan a trip around. Luckily I didnt buy my plane tix yet... Refreshed the site from 3pm to 6:30 pm, saw the 'buy' button twice and was unsuccessful at getting tix. I love every aspect of the 10C and appreciate 99% of it, but this was just downright frustrating.

    Ding!

Yeah, it would probably suck for some people, but at least you could trade tickets. "So and so has a ticket for MSG 1, looking for MSG 2."

Of course, you could also buy tickets for MSG and Indy, but not MSG and Boston.

  • just wanted to add my 2cents in as someone who reads daily but really never posts, especially in these kinds of threads.

yes, yesterday was bad, i think its the worst i have ever scene in 10 years. i always get through to the shows i want, and in the past few years, even though i was continually very lucky in doing so, it was getting worse and worse and a downright pain in the ass..i mean who wants to literally take ALL day to get tix, especially when you have a husband and kids breathing down your neck all day!

so yea, didnt get the only show i was able to attend, msg2, and i am bummed. i sat at that puter from 550 till 750 clicking, and was bummed i had to leave o get my son to his basketball playoffs..even he was bummed for me! he knew my priorities lol, and i was REALLY bummed to see people get tix after i had to leave lol (good for them though, they were most likely thrilled, but bad for me lol)

so oh well, trying tm on sat. and whatever will be will be. if they are sucky seats i will just stay home, save my $ and wait till next time

but that being said, i do have to agree, its getting out of control, they really need to be able to handle the rush of people wanting tix somehow.

congrats to everyone going, it will be great as usual. not too bummed since i was just in philly for 2 nights, but i sure will have to do something great that night if i dont get tix...knowing they are at msg and i am not is gonna be a killer!

also, i think alot people do the 'lets just see if i can get tix and leave them in my cart' thing just to mess with people. but thats just how some people think, and you cant stop them. i wonder what the age of these people are that do that?

again, good luck to everyone trying tm sat.!

To many people using multiple computers = bottle neck

    What did the 10C say . . .

    • DO NOT LOGIN USING MULTIPLE COMPUTERS!!!!! This creates a bottle neck of web traffic which can result in site failure and loss of ticket order. We can not stress this one enough.

We can not stress this one enough. We can not stress this one enough. We can not stress this one enough.

People who got shut out should be mad at people like "ssdr18".

"two computers up and 3 browsers"

    Sad fact . . . . a lot of 10C members logon using multiple computers . . . .

Their are also a lot of 10C members that are scam artists . . . multiple memberships (brother, sister, uncle, etc) . . . having 10C tickets to a show but trying upgrade their location by saying they don't have 10C tickets. There is a group of gals that always find some willing partner to split a pair of 10C tickets in a better location than their own 10C seats. I just have to laugh at these people . . . pathetic.

I know a 10C member in Florida that works in an IT department and uses his staff to run 6 computers with 3 memberships (himself, mom, and brother) to buy tickets to NYC shows.

There is a segment of 10C members that are kind of slimy.

Indeed. Going back to the postcard system would probably remove much of the headaches, but you'd still have those slimy ones who would buy multiple tickets to the same show and upgrade when they get to the venue.

Disgusting, but what are you gonna do about it?

I understand the frustration of those who tried for hours to get tickets and then came up empty handed. However, back in the day (at the risk of sounding old), we had to sleep out for tickets regardless of weather, safety, or fan club membership and then, still did not get tickets to the show. So when you are feeling frustrated at ticketing process of this day and age, just remember it used to be a LOT worse.

I understand where yor coming from, but let's say we're "back in the day" and you wait your 3-4-5 hours in line and you get to the window and the cashier has your tickets in hand but tells you "Sorry, took too long to get your wallet out" back of the line...NEXT

So...you wait in line again, chat up your line neighbors , get to the window, cashiers processing your order and then tells you "oops you ripped my face off" try again, back of the line...NEXT

lol, I would add that you randomly were removed from line and placed somewhere else and when you did get up front to pay and handed over your credit card, they told you that you dont like cookies (even though you love cookies)and gave you a cookie test which you pass, then they say no tix for you!!! back in line muhaahahahahahahah NEXT!
sorry but that made me laugh

Is it possible the 10c doesn't/won't/isn't upgrading the server(at least for sales) because they don't have enough supply(tix) to meet the demand?

If so, it still doesn't make sense. If I'm going to get shut out, I want to know within a reasonable amount of time. Not 4 HOURS.

here's 10c's response to that...very mature on their part to basically slap the customer in the face.

"We are sorry you were unable to get tickets to the Boston show. Due to supply and demand we never guarantee tickets to all fan club members. As you can see all the tickets from yesterdays pre-sale are still on the site. There are difficult markets, and not so difficult markets so your situation is specific to the show you want to go to, and not a money making scheme. Boston, NY, and DC will all be this way due to the volume of tickets versus number of fans. There’s not a whole lot we can do about that. The server did not crash. Having more fans logged in than tickets available causes a bottleneck at the door.

We apologize that you live in an area of the country where this is the ticket sale norm and understand if you’d rather not renew and buy your tickets through Ticketmaster’s service only.

    -10c "

Best responce in the world....If people are that unhappy then just dont renew...I think people forget that when you pay 20 you have the oppurtunity to make a shit load of friends who share a similar interest.

It is ruining my buzz seeing all the negative ones scattered about. ;-)

Seriously though..everyone makes a new thread so they can get their point heard...but lets stick it all in here and maybe it can give the mods a spot to maybe get some constructive critiques.

I'll start it off. I got Boston tickets. Of that I can't complain. But...the process was painful. No question about it. Every time I clicked a link, my browser timed out. Had I given up after 15 minutes (because I thought they only last 10 in the cart), I'd be SOL. Surely there is a better way. Optimally, I'd like to see it that anyone who gets an item in their cart can have a seamless transition through the buy phase.

All that said...they continue to try to run their fan club homegrown, and I applaud that. But they do need to recognize that something needs to change, even if it is only for the larger, popular markets. (NYC, Boston, DC).

I will say this though. At MSG 1 in 2008, I was shocked at the number of scalpers looking to BUY tickets instead of sell them. I was offered about 2000 for my back of the floor seats. Obviously the system is flawed, but it is successful in keeping scalpers at bay (somewhat). So whatever the solution is has to bear that in mind.

Anyway..hope people use this thread for complaints etc...much easier to follow .

    anything is possible friend
its not the servers, as they have been upgraded each time

its the demand due to the mini tours
  • Hi gang,
I was wondering if people signed on early or waited until a few minutes before the sale to log on. Nervous I would be shut out, I logged in hours before the sale, then kept getting the temp. out of stock message, or page cannot be displayed. This was for the boston show, After almost an hour of frustration, and as a last ditch effort, I logged off the system and logged back in. I then breezed through the process and had paid for tix in 5 minutes. COINCIDENCE or was something put in place to block those that ignored what it said in the pre-sale email that was sent out? I am not trying to start a conspiracy theory, but I wonder why I was able to get through so fast once I logged out and back in. I have been a 10c member since 1995. I miss the days when they sent us an order form and we just picked what we wanted and sent it back. THOSE WERE THE DAYS! Since the new system of pre-sales went into place, I have been very fortunate, and have been shut out only once. I have attended many shows, icluding MSG, Boston, Hartford, Mountainview CA. just to name a few. The band has exploded over the years, and I'm sure all involved in this process try to do the best they can for everyone. small consolation if you did not get tickets I know. The process can be grueling if you live in a big market. Thanks for reading this...your thoughts welcome...even if if its to say, screw you, you got tickets ;)

I'm not sure about that. Yesterday was by far the worst sale I've participated in -- including Philly '05 and the Vic and previous MSG shows.

But yeah, at the end the day, tickets would sell out in 30 seconds flat if they had a perfect server. Would would lead to more bitching.
