    Fake!
  • thanks andy and soldier. looks like i bought a good fake...oh well...im probably going to keep it. may leave the seller a negative feedback for selling me something that i didnt agree to buy, a fake copy of what he described.

    thanks for all the help....

never did find "orlake" on either side of my record. plus, the catalog number is written without a "+" sign as i wrote in my earlier posts....

    fake.

Should we assume there are a lot of fakes out there? I have been looking for one for a while, but after what I have read here, my gut tells me this is fake too....

  • I really fear that this is a fake too because this is not his first auction for the Ten picture disc record from this seller.

If anyone is interested, I have pictured some other small differences about the "new" Ten Basketball Picture LP.

  • Just noticed this thread, wish I'd seen it earlier. This item was being sold wholesale to record dealers at a music fair in London last month. They originate from Austria and were selling for £10.00 ($20.00) a piece. I didn't buy one, but if I didn't have the original, I may have been tempted.
I would guess there was about 30 or 40 left in the box when I saw them, I asked how many many the guy had and his reply was basically "how many do you want?". This would suggest to me that they will be re-pressed until demand has dried up.
The guy also had alternative Ten Lp picture discs using the album cover artwork and Vs Lp picture discs. There was about 10 different Maiden and Metallica picture discs plus White Stripes coloured vinyl, also Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Muse and countless others. Interestingly the basketball picture disc was one of only a few copied items I could see, the rest were nearly all items that had never been officially released in the first place (Vs picture disc etc).
I can understand the initial excitement at picking up this rarity for $60.00 on ebay, but the old adage "if it looks to good to be true, it probably is" seems quite appropriate in this case.
If I had bought one, I would still stick it in a frame and hang it on the wall, it's still a great looking item.

glad I used paypal :) I asked for a refund from the seller and within 5 minutes he'd given me my money back. He wanted me to send him the item back. Haven't done it. Yet.

I didn't even bother contacting the seller. I went straight to the Paypal Resolution Center thing. I'd suggest going that route rather than trying to be nice to the seller. You'll probably get better results that way. He can ignore your e-mails, but can't ignore a paypal complaint.

Y'all know what this means... right?
The market is going to be flooded with all of these fakes as all these Pearl Jam fans that got scammed and bought them up will try to unload them off to another Pearl Jam fan for 200 bucks a pop.
    Great.

    Great.

I know, it sucks. I know I have a real one having compared this thread to my record it matches all the criteria for an authentic one. I have no intentions of ever selling it so I can rest assured that I didn't get screwed when I bought mine (not from the seller in question btw) All I can say to everyone else is, buyer beware.

Well... I don't have a copy... and it's no big deal. But, now... I can assure you, I will never buy on on EBay (or Craig's list) because the odds you will be getting one of these bogus copies has just increased by a ton.

this picture lp could have been original only in wonderland ...sorry guys ....i hate the people who gain money in this way ...so sorry
i heard a guy some days ago from portugal (same country of this seller) that was talkin about a vinyl fair where he found some picture ten vinyl at a very good price...he told it was fake so we can see this is another prove ....i am very sad for this bastards that do these things ...it is difficult for us as vinyl collectors to have some items and in this way is impossible ...the only way is to know very well what one wants to buy, be carefull to price
