really - i know you are pissed they aren't touring near you ... i'm just wondering if you would be saying the same things if they announced 3 shows within an hour from you?
my friend who goes to every concert said by far it was the best concert he saw last year in toronto ... the band can play live ... always have and always will ...0 -
Since when does Pearl Jam announce a tour and everyone starts bitching? You all are insatiable. :roll:0

I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER with the announcement!
My first 2 Pearl Jam concerts will be on 5/20 & 5/21 (assuming I'm able to get tix & all!)
Freaking out during school today? Pretty much.
Perfect timing: right after AP week, the weather's getting nice, and of course PEARL JAM, in my city at the fabulous MSG.
I am SO excited for this!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

Sigh I was sooo thinking of you when I heard the Columbus rumours then saw it confirmed.
I'm doing Buffalo and Cleveland for sure.
I want to do Columbus but dunno if I can make it work. We'll see."Rock and roll is something that can't be quantified, sometimes it's not even something you hear, but FEEL!" - Bob Lefsetz0 -
I was surprised and excited seeing East Coast tour dates announced today!! Two Ohio shows... amazing!
Does any know a ballpark figure of how much tickets will be?0 -

I see a road trip from Toronto to Cleveland for the show and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then the Buffalo show the next night on the way back, AND, if everything works out, a Toronto show on the TBD May 18th!
Any other Torontonian's looking to do the same?0 -
I wonder if they thought of real-time virtual tours. There will always be people who physically go to the shows, and I doubt this would decrease the ticket sales for in person attendance as people who physically go to shows will always choose to go to the shows.
I work at a place that has an annual convention. There are classes that are offered face to face, and some people can look into them virtually, then they repurpose the taped portion as online courses. It could bring in more money, and more people could *see* the show from around the world. It's like watching the New Year's eve ball drop from around the world in real time EST, but through the computer. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. Same here, same concerns!
Of course I'd like great seats, but I figure hey- as long as I'm in the venue it will be a privilege!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

I can't wait to see them, I have not seen them yet.0

I've never gotten tix to Hartford...thru 10c anyway, and the 17th is the wife and my anniversary so it'd be hard to get her to go to that. Looks like I will be on the lawn again. Oh well, as long as I'm there."I read about the evils of drinking, so I gave up reading." - Henry Youngman0

"Midwest?" Ohio is NOT the midwest, and ask anyone from Missouri; that's more South than it is Midwest. I am from St. Paul, MN. I travelled to Chicago and San Francisco last year to see PJ. This year, I am heading to Jazz Fest and St. Louis. I am more than willing to travel.
I completely understand that PJ cannot, despite my deepest wishes, tour every city. I get that. What bothers me is that certain cities or regions routinely get shows, whereas other big cities get very few. I'm not asking for a show in the Twin Cities every tour; that wouldn't make sense. But it does suck that for certain fans, "travelling to see PJ" = a flight or at least a 5-6 hour drive. "Travelling to see PJ" for other fans = a 1 or 2 hours drive.
My ultimate point: because some cities are already so close together--meaning travel is already easier--instead of 2, 3 or 4 shows in a given northeast venue, do 1 or 2, and then spread out shows more regionally with the additional dates. Barring venue scheduling issues, why do 4 shows in Philly when you could do 2 in Ohio first and then 2 in Philly? Why do 2 Chicago shows when you could do 1 in Chicago and 1 in St. Paul, Alpine Valley or Iowa? I'd wager to say that a sizable portion of the fans who went to one of the 4 Philly shows went to at least one other Philly show, and will probably head to NYC, Buffalo, or Hartford on this tour. It wouldn't be entirely unfair to want PJ to hit a few spots more regionally so that instead of flying to St. Louis or New Orleans, I can see them in Milwaukee, Alpine Valley or Minneapolis.
But for the record once again, I completely understand that as much as I love my favorite band, they are not gods and can't please everyone. I am definitely looking forward to Jazz Fest and St. Louis!Post edited by vant0037 on1998-06-30 Minneapolis
