"Pictures of You" might just be the single greatest song ever written.

Love the song, beautiful song, great song.

    I wouldn't go that far.

I said might be. I don't think it IS, but if someone were to say that, I could see their argument.

I couldn't. Unless you deleted about 1000 other songs from existence beforehand, including the entire opus of Dylan, The Stones, Pearl Jam, e.t.c.

Still, each to their own. 8-)

Also, you'd have Rolling Stone magazine to answer to: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/500songs - they place it at number 278. Personally, I don't think it even deserves to make the top 1000.

Interesting... I like the Rolling Stone list, I don't necessarily agree with it, but it provides food for thought!

One of my favorite concert memories in the last few years was seeing these guys in 2007 (when they canceled every US date ... except the one here) and their second encore was 8 songs from Boys Don't Cry ... along with the title track, Killing and Arab, 10:15 on a Saturday Night, Jumping Someone Else's Train, Fire in Cairo, Grinding Halt ... it was amazing. They are still fantastic live.

As for Pictures of You ... something got taken away, just a bit , when they released Letter to Elise ... always felt those two songs were a bit too close.

  • Pornography and Standing On A Beach were a staple of mine for quite some time. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me was great. Also Disentegration. That was their last good album. Japanese Whispers, Head On The Door etc.

The moods they brought out in me are unmatched by any other. Such descriptive and visual lyrics.

Love Song was their Jeremy. Good, but played too much.
I still make time to listen to the Cure. I need another copy of the Disintegration live songs CD single!

    You mean 'Love Cats'?

Remember the US did not embrace the Cure as much or as soon as Europe did. I'm talking radio play. A Forest got minimal US play at best, whereas Jeremy was played once an hour it seems like on every rock station.
