If you weren't old enough to appreciate the "grunge" era, what song got you to say "wow, this band is awesome i wanna hear some more"???

surprisingly for me it was nothing as it seems, then i realized cool i didnt know they also played daughter, and... its all history and music bliss since then

so what about everyone else?
Some die just to live

I was a little young when grunge was really popular... I was like 8 when Ten came out, needless to say I still had it... (I got the Ten tape for xmas when I was 9)... Got Vs. when it came out... I liked them fine back then... but I wasn't hardcore into them until around Vitalogy and I think Corduroy was the song that got me hooked from there on out.

I was part of the grunge thing, but I think when I heard Black, it put me over the edge. That's when I knew they were for real.

Not a song as such, it was the whole Ten album.

When I was 14 in 1993 I had a record voucher with which I wanted to buy The Spaghetti Incident by Guns N' Roses (which incidently is rubbish) but I forgot I had it and paid cash. I then had to spend the voucher so looked in the rock section and just picked an album at random and there we have it....

I tried out with "Welcome to the Jungle," but they thought I was too hard core to be in the band.

    Watch your modifiers; I kid.

Honestly, I would say just Ten when I was in junior high 1992

Alive was the first song I heard, my Freshman year of college, playing down the hall in some stupid Fraternity house. Thank God, for Pearl Jam not the frat house....got out of that asap. But yes it was Alive and I liked it so much I got the cassette, yes cassette and I remember just sitting in my vehicle just listening and reading the cool lyrics from the totally unique jacket. Then it was the whole album and the next and the next and so it goes.

My uncle came home after seeing them open for Keith Richards and the xpensive winos one new years eve and gave me the ten cassette and insisted I absorb this band. I did and that is how it begun.
The band for me all time, no one else comes close.

I was a freshman in high school and saw Alive on MTV's 120 Minutes. I was in awe after hearing that song and went out the next day and bought the cassette.

I was 15 when Ten came... And I felt in love with Alive first...
Actually, I don"t know what really means "Grunge Era", even i grew up with this kind of music (so known - Soundgarden, Alice.., Mother love bone, Stone Temple Pilots, and - my special - Temple of The Dog... i never listened Nirvana - it's the exception). So i'm not sure what is "really grunge" even now - i don't get it! But - say just we except Ten (most people think is the most grunge album of PJ), so, probably - i will chose "Rearviewmirror". It's my favourite song from the next album.

It's funny - before PJ i listened Guns'n'Roses as someone who wrote here before. And this one:

That video tape was the last one of G'n'R... I've never thought i could ever spend o much more time with music of a one band:)

    I Am Mine.

I remember I had just gotten into Nirvana and rock in general,I remember reading an article about how Nirvana's greatest hits was due ou the same week as Riot Act and its release date had to be altered because of that. That was November and I got Ten that Christmas...I think it was Yield that made me a dedicated fan though.

I actually went to the USe Your Illusion Tour show in OKC in Jan. or Feb. of 92, just before I heard Alive. Back then it was GnR, Tesla, and Public Enemy as some of my favoites of the time. Then it all changed with PJ

I loved it when Ten came out and they were one of my favorite bands, but I didn't fully become a PJ nut until I heard SOLAT for the first time. After I heard that song for the first time, I knew I was going to be hooked on them forever.

In 2003 I started singing in a band, and my three bandmates were really into this band called Pearl Jam.

I started to learn the songs... we've done a concert.... from that moment on they've become my drug!!!

But I was too young when 10 came out!

See you guys in MSG I AND II!!!!!
    Roooooooooooooock

EDIT: Eheh, forgot to mention.... the song that got me in?? SOLAT!!
