To be fair, it's not possible to be fucked over by the list. If you were fucked over, it must have been by other 10C fans. The list is just a tool.

I agree with whoever said that the rubbish was a disgrace...

when we were going through the Syd line, it was like a rubbish tip. So, fans of someone who is so environmentally conscious can just leave their shit all over the place? Pigs!

Aaaaand, on the subject of a queue, I think yes you should be allowed to let your partner or friend in if they cant get there til later (work commitments, kiddies etc), but to leave and take stuff to hotels and even people that went off to go to a pub and have a few drinks, then come back after a few hours, doesnt that defeat the whole part of queuing?

Good post, although I think it is fair for people to drop merchandise of somewhere, especially given the fact there was nowhere inside the venue to store stuff. One member allowed a fair few of us to place our items in his car in the main car park, but going to the pub for a couple of hours etc is a long hop too far. For the most part commonsense prevails but as we all see too often in life, it is the odd case where it does not that stuffs it up for everyone.

A good solution would be a ban on lining up before say 2pm 10c tickets are available and then as you pick up your tickets, your name is recorded followed by an official lottery at 4pm where those who collected tickets from say 2-3:30pm are called randomly to enter as the gates open. I think Springsteen did a similar thing at Meadowlands. In all honesty queing all day sucks, but it was the only way of getting the spot you wanted.

Seating in 2003 and 2006 was cool, but GA was also cool, but a better way where all get a fair chance to be at the front without camping out or lining up all day is probably a better system.

As for rubbish, it shits me in all walks of life were people are slobs and don't clean up after themselves. There were plenty of bins around and there was no excuse for rubbish, but again, I believe the minority made it look bad for everyone else.

it surprises me that this list debate is still going on....

alright, i see its value in Europe where there are so many more 10c tkt holders - but in Australia there really arent that many by comparison - realistically we should be able to line up and be honest about who was where and letting other members in and out to get food/stash gear/loo breaks etc. There shouldnt have been any need for a list. but it doesnt bother me that there was one either.

but what i dont get is everyone still stressing over this - did you get where you want to be once you were in the gate?? i had friends in sydney that rocked up about 40 mins before gate opening and still ended up only 8 or so back from the barrier, and happily so.
if you want barrier, you'll show up a bit earlier. if your 100 back in line you'll still get it, or so close to it. but did any 10c holders really end up standing somewhere they didnt want to be??

this tour was great to be ga again, and free to stand where and with who you wanted. i was barrier twice, and sheeprun side twice (by choice) and was happy each show - my son got the experience of a barrier in front of mike ed & jeff, he was as happy as you can get.

really tho - i hope pearl jam go back to 10c seating next time, and run a lottery. (then we'll get the threads complaining how a 100 *** got them 20 rows back  )

GA all the way for me from now on! It was waaaay better being surrounded by friends on the rail! Fucking loved it! And long live "the list"! Worked great for me! Half the fun of the concerts in NZ was rocking up early with my mates and chilling out! And it was great getting to know some of the other people on the list at my concerts. Good times!

Hmmm....let me think....nope, in Sydney and Brisbane I just did bjs so the rubbish was most definitely not my clothes. Security in Auckland and Christchurch weren't quite as easy though....fucking kiwis.... ....so the rubbish in Auckland or Christchurch may have been my clothes! ;)

i thought the list was a great idea in auckland.. we got lost because none of us were aucklanders and auckland is a WHORE to drive in... we were getting number updates on where the list was up to and arrived just before midday and still were in the 30s... then we got to sit under trees and relax. maybe the list works REALLY well when there aren't many 10c members?

plus the merch runs helped out more than just the people doing them in many cases...

You sure it was just BJs at the Brisbane show? There were used condoms and condom wrappers in the portaloos there. :P

Oh and btw I got to QSAC at 4.45 pm, sat on the lawn near First Aid during Ben Harper's set and still managed to get second behind the rail on Stone's side just past the screen. :)

all the condoms got blown up and bounced around the crowd in christchurch .... so there was either a lot of people living on the edge, or a big shortage of beach balls in that town

The point of having a list is to self-impose some organization on the Ten Club line. It's more fair to have a list than to not have one.

However, having a list alone doesn't do much without writing your number from the list on your hand. That's something that we do in Europe and did on this OZ/NZ tour as well. Otherwise, people will join the queue from the side and will say that they are on the list. And in Brisbane, a security guard actually ordered us according to our numbers just before the gates opened.

The result is how it should have been. People who got in line early in the morning got into the arena before people who showed up in the afternoon.

I've been to many GA PJ shows with and without lists. Having a list and writing numbers on hands is the fairest method of organizing the queue. Without it, it's a free-for-all.

a list only works as long as people respect it. it means that the people who put in the hard yards and the long hours get up front.
it is up to everyone to police themselves, and respect peoples positions in the line.

Sydney was good, it worked, and i did not see too many people around me just be fore we went in who had not been around us all day.

Melbourne there was no list, things were pretty badly handled by the venue a bit as well, and there seemed to be a lot of people coming in, +1's and other friends turning up mid afternoon when the others had been there since morning. It was ok through the day, but when they moved the line it went shit, and the 2 line sort of setup from 10c in melbourne did not help either.

my +1 joined the back of the line when they arrived a few minutes before we got let in. the other +1 i was with ended up getting in before us but only because the idiot staff at mt smart thought she worked for the fanclub and let her in a different entrance. she was waiting for us when we came in.

shirley. yeah. she said to whoever she talked to "i'm with the fanclub" meaning... i have a fanclub ticket and they didn't ask for anything else.. no ID.. proof.. nothing. just gave her a staff wristband and sent her on her merry way. good thing i'd mentioned to her earlier that we were aiming for the left side infront of cready cuz that's where she was waiting.

fucking tinny cow. she got there while we were waiting in the "holding area" by the super top... she'd texted me to say something about wristbands while we were getting let in.

The list is a bit of a waste of time. We saw that when you compared shows that didn't have the list to ones that did there really wasn't much difference. People in the line knew if you had been there in front of them (especially right at the front), and were pretty much all respectful. You'll always get a +1 jumping in somewhere too. When it all boils down to it the numbers mean fuck all except it makes a few peeps feel a little more at ease if someone wants to challenge them if they walk back in trying to get to their original spot. Plus I'm sure there are a select few that get to pat their 'pj devotion' egos by having a nice single digit written on their hand :) Don't deny it :)

Point taken that not all Adults act like Adults but it's important to assume and act as though most are. Swings and roundabouts, it all evens out somewhere along the line. It's a fact of life, that no matter where you at at one point in time there will be a few people that want to lie, cheat or steal to get ahead. In general I choose to believe most people are decent, especially 10C. Does it really matter anyway if you end up a few people to the left/right/back? No list will prevent that conclusively from happening in my eyes.

I didn't give a fuck about egos or numbers on my hand. I gave a fuck about getting the rail in front of Ed or Mike....which the list enabled me to do 3 out of 3 times.

I'm 5 foot 1....being a few people back makes a HUGE difference to me. If I would have been even one person back in Auckland, I would have been fucking smashed and would have definitely gone over the rail to get away from the fuckwits behind us. Luckily, I had a big mate behind me who protected me the entire concert by putting his hands either side of me on the rail and he did not move an inch the entire concert. He got pretty hammered by the people behind him though....so much so that he said there was no chance in hell he was staying up the front in Christchurch. Luckily he did though because the crowd in Christchurch was awesome!

I'll say it again....the list ROCKS and the list made my entire tour tbh....especially in Auckland and Christchurch. I can't see any negatives to the list at all. I also didn't see anyone with a big ego over the list --- just massive Pearl Jam fans who wanted the same as me --- the best position they could possibly get.

  • ahhhh the list :) generally worked ok

i disliked the Melbourne lineup when about 50 people came out of nowhere up in front of us... :?

i guess Melbourne is a bad example since i just about left my spot up front to go pee during under pressure :?

the idea of having to sit in a line in the direct sun on concrete sounds a bit awful considering how nice it was to get your number then go plonk yourself down on the grass under a tree in auckland eh?
