If I would have been even one person back in Auckland, I would have been fucking smashed and would have definitely gone over the rail to get away from the fuckwits behind us. Luckily, I had a big mate behind me who protected me the entire concert by putting his hands either wide of me on the rail and he did not move an inch the entire concert.
Pete saved my life too... forever in debt for him swapping with me
Pete saves lives... bumper sticker
Such a fucking legend! My Pete is good guy! I had Duncan's mate Pete behind me in Auckland. Both of the Pete's were looking out for the ladies!! Good boys!
i felt no pain in auckland. way too happy. the only time i noticed the crush was when i had security guard boobs in my face... and that dickhead next to us.. and the dickhead on the other side who was trying to get into shirley's spot
the idea of having to sit in a line in the direct sun on concrete sounds a bit awful considering how nice it was to get your number then go plonk yourself down on the grass under a tree in auckland eh?
In Sydney I was sitting on bitumen from 8.30am until we were let in at 4.30ish.....in 40+ degree heat....thankfully we were sitting under the only tree in the line. It was so fucking hot --- but it was worth it. Got the rail in front of Ed....thanks to Paul Andrews who swapped with me so I could see.
Paul Andrews was so good to me on tour! Another fucking legend!
I'm 5 foot 1....being a few people back makes a HUGE difference to me. If I would have been even one person back in Auckland, I would have been fucking smashed and would have definitely gone over the rail to get away from the fuckwits behind us. Luckily, I had a big mate behind me who protected me the entire concert by putting his hands either side of me on the rail and he did not move an inch the entire concert. He got pretty hammered by the people behind him though....so much so that he said there was no chance in hell he was staying up the front in Christchurch. Luckily he did though because the crowd in Christchurch was awesome!
What I'm saying is that if there was no list - you would have been cool Ziggy. In Sydney I was near the cut off for the list and once I got inside people ran past me, tickets didn't scan etc etc. However, list or no list you would have been sweet because when you are that close to the front of the queue the other 10C peeps know you have been lining up and deserve to be there. Once you get back past 15/20 people, +1 people jump in and people 'walk' quickly past you so the list don't mean much as far as I'm concerned. I'm not giving a big fuck off to the list but I believe it wasn't that essential. I lined up in Melbourne with no list, Sydney and Christchurch with a list and it made no diff as far as I was concerned.
By the way I was a few people to the left of you in Sydney! Didn't realise it was you

Hey Easties, you would have been pretty much near me too. You can check out my sydney vids wich will bring back some memories.
Jaswah, first of all, so great that Ed dedicated Light Years to Sebastian.
Secondly, I was a late comer in Melb, but that was cos I'm a teacher and couldn't get anyone to look after my class. On lifewasted, we discussed whether it would be ok for people to join their 10C partner later on if they couldn't get out of work, and it was considered ok.
So I joined my 10C buddy (who had been there since 9am) late. My gf did too, but her spot was minded by another of our friends, who kindly waited all day and then left when we arrived. I heard there was a fuck up when we were moved on to the next stage, with many losing their proper spot. In the end, we got the barrier Stone's side (bit further to the right of him), and it took a while before people joined us. Was a decent spot, don't know why more didn't.
In Syd I was just a couple of hours later than my friend due to flight times, but just by myself joined her in her spot higher up the queue. Started to freak out when everyone kept going on about "the list" and numbers written in black texta on their hands. My friend had been told that there were no +1s.
All in all I felt pretty bad that I was able to queue jump, but no one said anything to me and I figured I was just one extra. But apologies. Didn't realise groups of people were doing that though.
I dunno.. I don't like the idea of fans running the show without being sanctioned to do so.
Hope your GA experience didn't ruin the tour for ya!

Given that 10c tickets are sold in pairs, I'd think it entirely appriopriate for +1s to be allowed in.
Maybe this thread is in some way making a new ettiquite for this kind of event in the future.

absolutely, just a shame they all happened to converge in Melbourne haha!
there really is no way around it.. we just have to suck it up.
then when the next tour is seated we'll be bitching we don't get a front row lottery or something :?
I think the queuing thing is getting way out of control in Europe. Same faces with their names on a list  I want to be in the front in Dublin, but at the rate things are going, I'm going to have to start queuing up this evening

I'd love to be at the front (or somewhere near there) for Dublin. for several reasons.. it's (so far) the only show I'm going to this time, I'll possibly go with a friend of mine who is short (5'1'' or so) and Dublin 2006 was my first ever Pearl Jam concert.
but I know there's no fucking way I'll be able to make it - so I'll just chillax and not be too bothered with the queuing.
"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."

Sounds like it's way out of control everywhere...
Queuing involves waiting it out and not leaving the queue or your spot... if you re-enter at a spot you've left... you are a queue jumper.
I don't get this whole "list" thing justifying people cutting back in, after going suburbs away from the queue... if you have to leave the line up at all... you've lined up way too early...
This list allows people to start a line up right now... at ANY venue in the world... and they are free to come and go as they wish until the concert is on
I don't recall the line up to get into a concert being like a Deli or Bank where you take a number to be next served..
I guess it must please the 50 or so people that are able to actually get on "the list" though... or the ones that know there is a list...
<edit> Sorry... I forgot a small group of people... the people that have nothing better to do all day
Why not let the 10C do the list like they do with the seat numbers in the US? Then you dont have to fight about it.
I got members nr; 32*** and get front row every time then
