Sick of XFactor pop twats? Then buy Killing In The Name after Dec 13th and hopefully deny them the Xmas No 1 spot!

Rage Against The Machine are to make a bid to beat this year's winner of 'The X Factor' to the UK's Christmas Number One single position.
A Facebook group asking people to buy the band's 'Killing In The Name' has at the time of writing attracted over 45,000 members.
The group states that fans should buy the song from December 13 – the same day that this year's X Factor winner's song becomes available.

Plus they are encouraging everyone who buys it to also donate money to the Shelter charity - so far they've raised over £10,000 for the homeless. Incidently, I used to know the guy who has set this all up. I've just done my bit and downloaded it.
Oh, and that NME report is old, they now have nearly 700,000 people signed up on facebook!0 -
Bump! Come on people, you can buy the track for 29p on Amazon!0

I think I read somewhere that if the track is bought for less than 40p (or something), it "doesn't count". :? I could be wrong though. if so, someone correct me!"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -

On the facebook page it says if you pay less than 40p it doesn't count towards the chart (I guess it's to stop record companies more or less giving a track away to sell more and get a better chart position) ... think they are now over £20000 to Shelter ... and it is no 1 on hmv, play and I believe iTunes at the moment.
Although the X-Factor has the advantage of physical sales as well as downloads.
EDIT: The info on the Facebook group has changed. They now say the Amazon download does count :?So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -
Instead of amazon
try play.com or iTunes!!!Budapest.Budapest.Arnhem.Antwerpen.Vienna.Madrid.Katowice.Nova_rock.Nijmegen.Rotterdam.Berlin.Dublin.Belfast.London.Venice.Prague.Stockholm.Copenhagen.Vienna.Leeds.Milton_keynes.Padova.Prague.Seattle1.Seattle2.Chicago1.Budapest.Cracow.Vienna..>>>LONDON.BERLIN1.BERLIN2

Apparently Tom Morello was interviewed by Radio 6 Music this morning

With respect, this whole campaign seems completely moronic to me. We'd get a shouty, cod-political anthem from the early nineties at number one in the charts rather than some Cowell-manufactured, easy-listening muzak. It won't save the future of popular culture as we know it.
It's a shame people can't get so motivated about things that matter.
PS Bah humbug.
