I mean, I know they care about the Enviroment and stuff, but what's the REAL reason that they make their CDs in Cardboard sleeves???

i heard somewere stone has shares in a cardboard company
  • I've always figured it was just so it had more of a vinyl album look to it. But does it even matter? As long as they keep putting them out, I'll buy them. They could be wrapped in leaves for all I care.

It is a mix between being enviornmentaly friendly and having a vinyl look to them. I like the cardboard cases so much better than plastic anyway so keep em coming.

I kinda wished they went back to CD/Jewel Cases, then cardboard. Cause cardboard does tend to scratch up your cds. Yes, cardboard is cheaper, enviromently friendly etc.. but the safest way to store you cd's is jewel casing.

I agree, or at least those half cardboard/plastic cases that hold the cd, like Binural case, i hate when CDs skip

    I prefer plastic.
    CD's scratch in the cardboard.
    And they easily fall out.
    Happened to my Backspacer cd.

True. I think TEN was the only Pearl Jam CD that came in Plastic case, other than the singles "ALIVE, JEREMY, EVEN FLOW" Etc..

VS had a couple of cardboard cases when it first came out. But you're right, i have it on a Plastic case.

Yield and Avocado have the cases that i prefer...oh , and RIOT ACT too

I actually prefer the cases that the 10C Avocado and Backspacer came in. As well as Into the Wild. Come to think of it, didn't Binaural and Riot Act had plastic holders for the CD in the cardboard case?

i'd say cardboard sleeves are cheaper to produce.

and i'm not completely convinced that cardboard sleeves are tons and tons more environmentally friendly than plastic: the cardboard hasta come from somewhere.
