From a longtime Red Sox (1972) fan CONGRATULATIONS they played well last year especially wih the walk off wins. It only sucks that A-Rod FINALLY has a ring. I might go up to Yankee spring training for a game if they play the O's or the Marlins. Next is a must for opening day for the SOX, again CONGRATS.

Oh Yeah one more thing this morning I had to tell my daughter the Yankees won and she quietly said thanks Dad. :D

    edit: She's a bigtime Yankee fan :(

anyone else a little embarrassed for matsui that he needed an interpreter to accept his mvp award? i understand people that don't know the language need interpreters, but thats just it, he's been playing ball here making millions for like 5 years, ya think he could have gone out of his way to get himself rosetta stone by now??

I think he speaks english some. I think it was just a big moment and he wanted to make sure he did not mess up and say the wrong thing in case he misinterpreted a question.

no. maybe he knows some English but not enough to feel comfortable expressing himself properly in it.

It definitely does. It's easy to think someone could do that but when there's a bunch of microphones and tape recorders in your face, it's not that easy.

also he seemed to fully understand everything being said in english without his interpreters assistance , but as others pointed out he probably wasnt comfortable in speaking his broken up english .

    1 MILLION?!?!?!
    1 MILLION?!?!?! that's all??????

by some reports we doubled or tripled that number last year...and your city has about 7 million more people! .....

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/yank ... 3CoJ0HcqGM

In the morning, an estimated crowd of 1 million lined Broadway to celebrate the title. The players, standing on floats, made their way through Wall Street toward City Hall Plaza as confetti rained down from nearby office buildings
