This is such a pet peeve of mine. WHY bother putting it out there if you are not gonna say anything?

Its just kinda "Hey, look at me everyone".

    I have never understood that.
What? I have a desire to give an opinion, but not share all of the gruesome details because I dont want to get flamed on the board, or worse, get kicked off the board. Nice try....Im not looking for attention. Id be happy to tell you in person if you ever make it to Missoula, but not here...

I wasn't knocking your opinion...I was just saying that I don't get why people put something out there and then not say anything. Why bothering putting it out there. You could have stated your opinion without saying the "I know something" thing. It's just saying something without saying anything...worthless. :D

Lets just say that not everyone in the world (or certainly in Missoula) has the greatest opinion of a certain person that we all know.

They must have heard his solo album.

    da-dum, tssss!
  • I dunno about San Diego, but I was right in front of Stone in Portland and he seemed fine to me. Rocking in his own way. Plenty of love there.

I can believe that there was some friction between Eddie and Stone. Look, no matter what fans may say about how gracious and down to earth everyone in Pearl Jam is, it is my belief (some of it being based on personal experiences) that all of them have GIANT egos. I mean, one cannot be famous and a rock star for over half your life and not have some skewed view of the world, right? I would guess as Eddie more and more becomes THE man in this band, others egos are stinging a bit more than usual, no matter what they tell the media....

I can tell you, based on personal experiences, that at least one of them doesn't have a GIANT ego

I don't think Ed thanked Stone, but I think Ed was also taken off guard when Jeff took the mic from him (Ed) to introduce Ed at the end (during Ed's introductions).

Stone was having a great time every time I looked over, pogoing around, or jamming out near Matt's kit.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Well, not at the end -- Ed just called out McCready for shredding, then acknowledged all the extras, Lulu, Ben Harper, the teachers, roadies and what not -- everyone else who had come up to take a bow. Yeah at some other point he intro'd the band, I forget when that was, 1st Encore? And right, Jeff grabbed the mic and intro'd Eddie....

But at the end of Force of Nature he definitely called out Stone on that song afterward.

    Carry on....

I was there, and Eddie DID introduce Stone right after Boom. But the crowd was so loud saying "Boom" That when Ed said Stone Gossard, some may not have heard him. But he did say his name. Also, Ed hugged Stone from behind and patted him on the back a few times. So, there was nothing "strange" going on between them". Everything was cool. No Worries! Everything is fine. :)

I haven't seen this mentioned here...

On Thursday, Oct 8, Stone and his wife Liz were among the honorees at the Huntington's Disease Society of America - Guthrie Awards dinner in New York. While I haven't found any news accounts of the event, it is entirely possible that, on the day off between LA and SD shows, they flew back to NY to accept their accolades for the work they've done.

And pulling a trip to NY on a 24-hour turn around and then playing a 2.5 hour show takes a hell of a lot of stamina. *And* at the end of this leg of the tour.
Leading a life of noisy desperation, for a rather long time.

...Thanks for that, good to have a bit of "inside" info. BTW, I didn't notice anything unusual. Stone was rockin' pretty hard!
