Was Stone in a bad mood in San Diego?

Did anyone else notice a real look of sadness and boredom on Stones face throughout the show in San Diego? He seemed tired of having to play PJ songs. I'm sure I'm wrong but I focused on him at different times and It was as if he was like... "Come on Ed... 3 fuckin' hour show. wrap it up bud."

Did anyone else see this at all?

While the show certanly as a few more tunes than some of the other shows, it wasn't 3 hours.

That's a shame about Stone ... he's been Mr Excitment all tour long.

The show was damn close to 3 hours. Ben started early and so did the boys and then played until about 11:40 ISH.

2:40 is close to 3:00 I guess the fact that I was expecting it to end around 11 like other shows I was stoked when I was walking out and looked down at my watch to see it say 11:45.

It was a LONG one. I know the 3 hour claim has been thrown around on here but this one was close.

I wasn't close enough to see like some people!!!!! ;) (congrats by they way!--awesome story)

Someone else posted in the reviews, I believe, that he thought Ed was not talking to Stone like he was the others as if there was a problem between them or something................

Thanks Lizard. It was a great night. Hmmm. I didn't see that post. I just saw Stone blankly staring off into space a lot. Like when your girlfriend is in a fight with you and keeps saying "No... nothings wrong." Maybe they did get into a little tiff.

When the band was laughing it up I saw Stone standing in the back looking all wah wahh. Who knows. Whatever. Maybe he was having a bad day. I guess like any job we all have... anything you do can get a little mundane at times right. Even if you are a bad ass guitarist for the worlds best band.

I know Stone was in a bad mood from about 1994-1995, maybe he just wanted to go home & see his family after touring. When Ed said in SVT that Stone was the problem i think he was right. There are two pictures of him circa 94-95 that he just didn't want to be there, you can just tell it. The pictures are in RVM(sitting with Mike wearing a cap) & the cover of Place Date book.

Ha! Well... I'm listening to him talk about the new album on the radio now. He sounds ok except he keeps mentioning playing less. Leading me to think... maybe he's a little tired of it all. I hope not.

Me too.. Although Stone is probably the last person I will track on stage, and although I did not have your vantage point (bastard  ) I do remember seeing him going bonkers during Unthought Known. Jumping like a pogo stick

From page 2 of the reviews (I just noticed posts don't have #s any more)
....

Note...and this might cause some flac, but I have to note this observation. During the show, I never once saw Ed speak to Stone, go stand by stone and rock out, it was odd. After the encores when everyone was giving hugs like Boom, Ed, Matt, there was Stone to the side and no hug from Ed, no even a pat. He walked by him as if he wasn't there. To me...it looked like Ed was pissed off at Stone. He was getting the "Stone" cold shoulder. Then, after the show...Ed said something like, "this is the last time here for a while, so...enjoy." I looked over to Rocko, the guy from the LA shows 3, 4 and he said Ed made the same comment on the 4th night in LA too. So...this got me to thinking, which is not a good thing if you know me. Is there something going on with Stone? Is he the reason why they may be taking a break, a long break according to but based off my interpretations of Ed's comments, have something to do with Stone? Or...the fact that there are rumors of a Soundgarden reunion, and Matt will join them on their tour soon, have something to do with the long break?
But...still, the Stone and Ed thing, did anyone else notice this other than my new PJ friend, wife and Rocko's girlfriend see this too? Hmmm. :? ..

Yeah but there is this from LA4

another great night with PJ, 1st thing Ed said was an Fbomb and then he said where are my manors coming out cursing before even saying good evening. before gonna see my friends ed said he had talked to a higher up at universal and that he told Ed to rip the joint down tonight. Ed said he then noticed that the guy was let go from the company later in the day, so he was not sure if he should take advice from that guy or maybe he should uphold his wish.
Ed had two falls off the stage, luckily both where close to security guards who kept him from going all the way down. Ed gave both Stone and Jeff hugs after Crown.
Ed mentioned that the string section they had in LA was the best and would have a tough time replacing them.
Great show fun set list a little something for everyone, here is to a 3 hr show in San Diego :-)

Celeb sightings- Kenny Mayne and Elizabeth Banks

And
Such a great vibe for this show. Setlist was amazing as you can see. The band was really into it. I have seen a lot of shows and I have never seen Stone so animated. He was just rocking out the whole show like a 20 year old again. Seriously, he was headbanging like crazy. Mike, Ed, Jeff, everyone was having a blast.

"Jerry is here to helps us.... to kick out the motherfucking jams!!!!"

I was close in LA4 and he seemed really happy...

I don't think the band came to an end in 2 days...

That was my post. It was as if Ed was pissed off at Stone. During the show Ed introduced Mike, Boom, Matt but no Stone. During breaks, Ed walked right past Stone, no contact either physical or verbal that I could see. During the encore, when Mike was doing the Star Bang thing...Ed was behind Booms organ (Hey NOW!!) hugs were given to Boom, Matt, Jeff and there was Stone....nothing. Ed even walked right past him and nothing, no speaking, no hugs no pats on the shoulder nothing! It was very awkward. Like I said before to the guy, who sat to my left, he noticed it too. My wife even said there is something going on between the two. So...why did it appear that Ed was pissed off with Stone? Again, is he mad that Ben is on stage, or Jerry Cantrell, Chris Cornell, upset that Ed sang Birthday songs to LuLu and told his story about his old boss, was it that Ed's and Matt's music teachers were there jamming in Stone's band? I don't know. But it appeared to me that there was something up with Ed and Stone for SURE!!!

he mentioned something about "fighting like brothers" at Seattle 2. before starting the 1st encore exactly the same way they did the night before (the end, just breathe). I've noticed that almost every show has started off this way...then when ben started doing Red Mosquito with them it because The End, Just Breathe, Red Mosquito.

Maybe stone was pissed about that

I can believe that there was some friction between Eddie and Stone. Look, no matter what fans may say about how gracious and down to earth everyone in Pearl Jam is, it is my belief (some of it being based on personal experiences) that all of them have GIANT egos. I mean, one cannot be famous and a rock star for over half your life and not have some skewed view of the world, right? I would guess as Eddie more and more becomes THE man in this band, others egos are stinging a bit more than usual, no matter what they tell the media....

It's been that way pretty much for the last 18 years.

My friend and I were sitting fourth row dead center and wanted to get a Stone chant going at various times during the show, but were drowned out by the crowd every time. After 'Do The Evolution' they went right into 'Rearviewmirror' and we had no chance. After 'Red Mosquito' we were drowned out and then Ed started story-telling into the Happy Birthday sing-a-long.

Finally, during the beginning of 'Yellow Ledbetter' Stone looked our way and we just started jumping, pointing at him and yelling his name and he cracked a sheepish grin back at us.

I didn't really notice anything different about his mood. I was fortunate to be 9th row Stone's side for Seattle 1 and 3rd row Stone's side for Los Angeles 3 and I didn't notice anything those nights either. Maybe I've just got my Stone-blinders on...

Sorry, but no. I do live in Missoula.....I dont want to get kicked off the board though.... Lets just say that not everyone in the world (or certainly in Missoula) has the greatest opinion of a certain person that we all know.

Wow, I didn't think Boom had been around long enough for a star trip. You meant Missoula, Hawaii right? I kid, and definitely respect your restraint. I will pry no more, even though the empty void that could be filled by what you know will be with me forever...

Sometimes I think a good couple of years break would revive them a bit...not so much for us...but rather for them.

A friend of mine went to seattle and she noticed the same thing, I went to the san diego concert, and this is not the stone Im used to see, but maybe he is just not having a good time because of personal problems, and as the post above says, maybe they do need a 2 year break

Ed and Stone are almost always cold to each other on stage. This really doesn't seem like anything new.

Maybe stone is tired of singing Ed's praises up and down in interviews while Ed NEVER returns the favor. Ever.

Who knows.
