Was Stone in a bad mood in San Diego?

My friend and I were sitting fourth row dead center and wanted to get a Stone chant going at various times during the show, but were drowned out by the crowd every time. After 'Do The Evolution' they went right into 'Rearviewmirror' and we had no chance. After 'Red Mosquito' we were drowned out and then Ed started story-telling into the Happy Birthday sing-a-long.

Finally, during the beginning of 'Yellow Ledbetter' Stone looked our way and we just started jumping, pointing at him and yelling his name and he cracked a sheepish grin back at us.

I didn't really notice anything different about his mood. I was fortunate to be 9th row Stone's side for Seattle 1 and 3rd row Stone's side for Los Angeles 3 and I didn't notice anything those nights either. Maybe I've just got my Stone-blinders on...

Sorry, but no. I do live in Missoula.....I dont want to get kicked off the board though.... Lets just say that not everyone in the world (or certainly in Missoula) has the greatest opinion of a certain person that we all know.

Wow, I didn't think Boom had been around long enough for a star trip. You meant Missoula, Hawaii right? I kid, and definitely respect your restraint. I will pry no more, even though the empty void that could be filled by what you know will be with me forever...
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Sometimes I think a good couple of years break would revive them a bit...not so much for us...but rather for them.

A friend of mine went to seattle and she noticed the same thing, I went to the san diego concert, and this is not the stone Im used to see, but maybe he is just not having a good time because of personal problems, and as the post above says, maybe they do need a 2 year break
  • This is Stone again...would you fans prefer it that I force my smile and joyful attitude like I did on the Target

    commercial?..Can't wait for Australia.

Ed and Stone are almost always cold to each other on stage. This really doesn't seem like anything new.

Maybe stone is tired of singing Ed's praises up and down in interviews while Ed NEVER returns the favor. Ever.

    Who knows.

Did anyone else notice a real look of sadness and boredom on Stones face throughout the show in San Diego? He seemed tired of having to play PJ songs. I'm sure I'm wrong but I focused on him at different times and It was as if he was like... "Come on Ed... 3 fuckin' hour show. wrap it up bud."

Did anyone else see this at all?

This is such a pet peeve of mine. WHY bother putting it out there if you are not gonna say anything?

Its just kinda "Hey, look at me everyone".

    I have never understood that.

    :D

TRUE!!! Honestly, I didn't notice at all.

Then again, I swapped my 3rd row tickets on Stone's side for 3rd row tickets in front of Mike. :D

The show was damn close to 3 hours. Ben started early and so did the boys and then played until about 11:40 ISH.

2:40 is close to 3:00 I guess the fact that I was expecting it to end around 11 like other shows I was stoked when I was walking out and looked down at my watch to see it say 11:45.

It was a LONG one. I know the 3 hour claim has been thrown around on here but this one was close.

They went on at 8:52 p.m. and the last note of "The Star-Spangled Banner" sounded at 11:20 p.m. So, that's 2 hours and 28 minutes.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

What? I have a desire to give an opinion, but not share all of the gruesome details because I dont want to get flamed on the board, or worse, get kicked off the board. Nice try....Im not looking for attention. Id be happy to tell you in person if you ever make it to Missoula, but not here...

Hmmm. I had 2:38 but that included the piano intro and a touch of crowd screams past the last bow. I'd put the offical show time closer to 2:33! hehehe oh well...

Truth is: we'll never know what's going on between the band members, as much as we care/worry/obsess (and it just ain't right on our part, let it go), but it could all be an act, it could be fer real. The history of creative tension between rock band members is legendary -- hell, didn't it come up between Pete and Roger at the VH1 Who Tribute -- one of the "aside" vid moments? Beatles and Van Halen come to mind as well. Man, look what Spinal Tap went through! May PJ stick with The Who's model and avoid the Beatles/VanHalen model is all we can hope...

Stone is a freakin godsend. Bayleaf is a phenomenal album, his more recent solo endeavors reveal him going in a very different way from pearl jam, but not so different from Ed's recent solo endeavors -- to the point that I think a Stone/Ed acoustic album would be bananas! His contributions to the studio albums are almost always some of my favorite tunes. So yes, a stone/eddie schism would be yoko-like (i kid I KID!!!)

All that said -- as much as I try and watch all the band members for a song or two, I can never really pull it off with Stone. Always back to Eddie or Mike. I get bored with Stone on stage and his back or extreme side profile is usually presented. Maybe I noticed that in San Diego, something up....

All I really remember from Stone San Diego is "Huh, he's using an amp model to play acoustic guitar with that strat! Has he done that before?" I noticed that twice, and it's probably because he switches over to an electric sound somewehere in the song -- only remember the acoustic for Eldery and YL. Think he used Amp Models, Guitar Modelling sound really, for Daughter and Betterman? Last Kiss?

So back on point -- ouch! If they are taking a break, can't freakin' blame em -- be with their families and enjoy life!!! Kids grow up waaay too fast!

I vividly recall Rush's FIVE-YEAR hiatus (and would wish what Neil went through on NOBODY, we all thought they were DONE, how Neil gets out of bed every day is a testament to humanity, READ HIS BOOK) and their really remarkable comeback! Heck, their 30-year Anniversary Tour was off the hook!

And that's what I really hope for -- don't care how much time PJ needs, as long as I know I'll see them again down the road.
    [sic] happens
  • If you're telling the truty, I can guarantee you, you won't get kicked off the board....Because I am Stone.
