  • What's it for? Was something announced that people would get this stuff? I'm missing something here I'm sure. I'm also sure I've spent money, via cc, over seas. I WANTS ME MONEYS! But yea.. any more insight on this?

CC were charging too much for the exchange rates on foreign purchases so the feds are making them pay up now

I hope I get one of these. I spent like $3000 in Canada on my card last winter.

  • It is 100% legit. You can get a quick free $25 or you can try to estimate how much you spent in a foreign country from 96 - 06.

My wife went abroad to Australia for 6 months in 2003. She probably used her CC for over 10K in expensese. I think we might get about $100 from them.

If I am reading it correctly, if you choose option #1, you just get $25 for filling it out. No estimates, no proof, no anything. Fill it out, send it in and you get $25. No reason not too, right? Anyone else read something different there?

Thank you Pearl Jam, your 3 shows in Toronto in 05-06 just got me $25!

Now, if i could just get back some of the other piles of money i spent...

  • Doesn't it require having done an "overseas purchase"?

    Canada wouldn't count.

    Canada wouldn't count.

I think it only requires a foreign purchase, not overseas, although i don't have the paperwork with me at the moment.

I assume that this is the case information, although I can't be sure without looking at the paper i received:

All that money charged on the card for the Canadian tour, is out of the window of opportunity for the refund. That tour was Sept 05. This is from 06 until the present.
Now if you did Europe... you could be looking at some dough.
  • yes i have. i spent a shit-ton overseas the past ten years too...lots of travel/tours/study abroad....wish i had some record/proof of it all. i really don't think it would be *big* bucks anyway to warrant too much research so i may just opt for the $25 option, but maybe option #2 since it requires more info but not THAT much more.....we'll see.

ahhhhh...it's just for 2006? well that i would still have records for i am sure, all the cc statements, not nearly as much work...i'll definitely look into it then b/c i am sure to get a bit more $$$. italy tour 2006 and 3 country tour in 2007....definitely dropped some bucks. um, i just looked at the link posted above and it says 96-06...so i wonder which is it? eh, guess i'll read what i got. :o i only briefly glanced at it when i opened it last night.
    Stay with me...

Too bad this isn't in Canada. A quick tally on only one of my credit cards shows about $4100 since 2002. My AMEX probably has similar from our vacations.
