So I've been promoting this album to some of my either non pearl jam friends or people who don't know much about them. I burned the C.D. for a girl from work whose a big music fan. I told her to listen to it on the way home and text me her thoughts. Here' s what she said," Like 3 it's happy, 5 is beautiful, 7 is Good, Love 8, 11 is intense, beautiful too, It's official, the whole thing is really good, I'll be listening to this agin soon!!! Whole alubm has great sound, Eddie's vocals are intense. " She rocks

I just find it interesting to get thoughts from mon pearl jam dorks like myself because I could probaly listen to them read the dictionary and strum along and be entertained. Anyone else have similar stories with Backspacer?

lol....that's what you'd think right? It's crazy, girls in their mid-to-late 20's with Master's degrees and they listen to Lady Gaga.

  • By the way I teach second grade and when the kids were coming in this morning I had backspacer playing. They were lovin got some and the fixer. Dancin around to it. I made sure to skip Supersonic. For what it's worth one of them told me his favorite band was Steely Dan. Pretty eclectic taste for a little guy huh? Thank you pearl jam for making an album without much cursing.

Music has become my way of judging how worthwhile a relationship is going to be with someone. If it's a woman who would enjoy going to a PJ concert with me... then she's in. If not... welp, see ya later.

My GF was looking at the Target commercial and said yesterday "they totally wrote that song [The Fixer] for this commercial". ...I couldn't disagree, though I hope not.

Yeah my boys caught on the S word REAL quick... They want to know if Eddie uses bad words at the concerts (they are going in 2 weeks). In front of my wife, OF COURSE NOT! :?

I remember my dad playing Big Ol Jet Airliner from Steve Miller when I was a kid and telling me shit was ship. I bought it. My kids are smarter :D

Similar thing happened to me with my dad (can't remember what band it was). But he just went with the whole "well, it's not cursing if it's in a song..." bit. I bought it, but mom was none too happy.

“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

it;s funny that you say that because a group of my students met me as I walked into school today and they said, did you know that Pearl Jam has a new album out? I just laughed and said, "of course!" And then told them tonight for homework they were to go out and buy it and let me know what they think in the morning

which fits in well with the thread...i wonder what the kids think of this album? since i don't listen to whatever is on popular radio, but many people here have compared the sound of the album to some of the popular music, will this bring in newer younger fans?

My Kids LOVE it... The rockers especially of course, but the oldest really got into Unthought Known as far as the music. They have it on their itouches so they can know the new songs for the show. Of course, PJ is alphabetically next to Pink on their Itouches :D I am just glad they tolerate their old man's music.

I let my dadd listen to it and the first thing he said when it started was "wow! now this sounds like rock n roll!" i laughed and said IT IS! he said "no, like REAL rock n roll....the GOOD stuff like back in the day! I'm impressed!" and he proceeded to turn it up real loud in his car with "massive speakers" And my nephew Spydee and my niece Cakes, LOVE it. Everytime they see a turtle they say "BACKSPACER!!!" and start dancing. My niece and i heard The Fixxxer friday and she jumped up and said "BACKSPACER!!!! LETS DANCE!" and we started dancing  My brother (the good one) loves it and played it at work in the gym with the rest of the police department. He asked me if there were tickets available for the L.A shows cuz some of them wanna go now!

  • I had someone at work tell me that they heard this new song from Pearl Jam. They really liked it and asked if this was the first time they have released something since that Jeremy song. I replied, "no, they have had a couple albums since then." Their response, "They must not have been very good."
  • so on my lunch break today at work, i volunteered to drive us to the place we were eating and jammed it the whole way. on the way there we listened to gonna see my friend, supersonic, fixer, and just breathe. all 3 of my buddies really dug it. on the way back to the office, they were all like... put it back on!
