How the f*ck were people supposed to compare the two albums months ago?
Hey, i've got an idea maybe next month we could start a thread about comparing backspacer to an album that may come in the future!" Things were different then, all is different now "

I love Self titled but Backspacer just cuts through all the bullshit. I just heard it in it's entirety and I already can't wait to hear it again. Force of Nature is by far my favorite on this album. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

I like the self-titled better. Backspacer is more consistent but nothing rocks my socks off like "Life Wasted" or "Severed Hand" does.
Makes sense here, I agree with you 100%, now where are the complainers...still a very good CD• 1991-11-17• 1998-08-28 •2000-09-01

Really enjoyed S/T when it came out, but it has dropped significantly over the years. Backspacer wins for now, but it will be interesting to see if it falls. While on the topic, the production on this new album has put S/T to shame...0

I have a better idea. How about you stop acting like an ass? Who are you trying to impress? Kat? If you don't have anything to contribute to the thread, then shut the hell up.The Official Matt Cameron appreciation signature!0 -

No-brainer for me, Backspacer by a mile. I like self-titled a lot, but it doesn't have half the memorable melodies that Backspacer has.0

I am likeing Backspacer much more than S/T. There are some unbelievable songs on Backspacer with so much feel to them. It's not really even close for me."I've got things to do and things to say in my own way..."0

Definitely Backspacer. I love this album...love it. I like it so much, that I could see it becoming one of my favorite albums of theirs. Songs like Unthought Known, Amongst the Waves, Speed of Sound, Johnny Guitar, and Force of Nature capture the sound that caused me to fall in love with this band in the first place. Yield may have some competition (and I'm not one to typically make fast decisions-- especially when it comes to PJ).
And with regards to this post:Get_Right wrote:Note to the band: please go back to making records without keyboards thanks
Noooooo way!!! I love the keys on this album. They make the album special in so many ways. Please keep using keys!!!"P-E-A-R-L J-A-M is priceless to me."0 -

Amen...I havent even heard the album yet because technically hasnt been released yet.0 -
I can't really compare album to album. I think it depends on the mood I'm in or the mood I want to be in at any given moment. They have such different feels to them, how can you really compare?0
 -
tie right now but it's going to depend on how the new stuff sounds live. After hearing stuff from the S/T album live it made me like certain songs even more so we'll see how I feel after hearing some of the new stuff in person.“May you live to be 100 and may the last voice you hear be mine.” - Frank Sinatra0
