I have a better idea. How about you stop acting like an ass? Who are you trying to impress? Kat? If you don't have anything to contribute to the thread, then shut the hell up.

Yeah, know your role and shut your mouth!

    Fool.
  • No-brainer for me, Backspacer by a mile. I like self-titled a lot, but it doesn't have half the memorable melodies that Backspacer has.

I am likeing Backspacer much more than S/T. There are some unbelievable songs on Backspacer with so much feel to them. It's not really even close for me.

  • Definitely Backspacer. I love this album...love it. I like it so much, that I could see it becoming one of my favorite albums of theirs. Songs like Unthought Known, Amongst the Waves, Speed of Sound, Johnny Guitar, and Force of Nature capture the sound that caused me to fall in love with this band in the first place. Yield may have some competition (and I'm not one to typically make fast decisions-- especially when it comes to PJ).

Noooooo way!!! I love the keys on this album. They make the album special in so many ways. Please keep using keys!!!

I loved the Avocado, but so far it's "Backspacer". It has such a positive feel to it.

How the f*ck were people supposed to compare the two albums months ago?

Hey, i've got an idea maybe next month we could start a thread about comparing backspacer to an album that may come in the future!

Amen...I havent even heard the album yet because technically hasnt been released yet.
  • I can't really compare album to album. I think it depends on the mood I'm in or the mood I want to be in at any given moment. They have such different feels to them, how can you really compare?
  • yield2meyield2me Posts: 1,291
tie right now but it's going to depend on how the new stuff sounds live. After hearing stuff from the S/T album live it made me like certain songs even more so we'll see how I feel after hearing some of the new stuff in person.

Having listened to S/T for a little over three years now, I have more emotional attachments to some of those songs, where I haven't connected in the same way with Backspacer, yet (Life Wasted/Parachutes/Inside Job).

Backspacer is the superior album, in my opinion, and I'm sure as time goes on I will get a better chance to know this album on a more emotional level.

Sheebus I sound like a wuss.

    Backspacer
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • If people this is a fast harkd rocking album - you are seriously whacked. I'm a Pearl Jam lifer but I am not going just to praise this album because they are my favorite band. Overall this album is terrible. I am so so mad and disappointed at it. Overall it's a weak uninspired effort - the guitar is hardly there and you hear cheesy keyboards - very 80's throughout. The solos are terrible. This is not a good album. There are two great tracks - The Fixer and Supersonic. Speed Of Sound, Amongst The Waves, Unthought Known, Force Of Nature ARE BRUTALLY BAD. The rest is ok but nothing special. They still are my #1 band BUT THIS IS A DUD............

    Its all good
a little sprinkle of boom on the vintage keys was cool, because it was subtle but BS has way to much for me-I wonder if Brendan will tour with them? I believe he has played live with them before.

I keep saying it, but where is McCready on this record? Noticeably absent. Glad folks love it, Im just a bit disappointed by a lot of the songs. I am glad they keep making new music no matter what. I do love Johnny Guitar and Just breathe though. Good stuff there.

I happen to share the same opinion as to the record, but my two tracks are Johnny guitar and just breathe.
And I think we may be alone in our opinion.

If you think "Get Right" is a good or great song, then I'm glad you don't like Backspacer. Your opinion is worthless :)

  • Backspacer is a better album, but there are some gems on S/T.

pipe down on the island, that says enough about your opinion and its worthiness :lol:;)
nah not a huge fan of GR, its the idea
chlll, put on some tunes, squeeze your girl, see a show, catch a buzz, get right man!
  • People should not get mad at others opinions. i have seen this band over 30 times I love them and probably many songs will sound better live - I just think this is a weak album. lazy song structures, uninspired and boring (excluding supersonic, got some, the fixer, just breathe)- weak overall. I dont like it as a whole. I like some tracks however. I just know this bands potential and I think they have their best work ahead of them. All bands make a dud or two. my dud may not be your dud and so on. BUT I THINK THIS ALBUM SUX

  • from someone who thought "self" was amazing and in my top 3...BACKSPACER IS EVEN BETTER!!!!!

most well round record to date...no doubt
  • backspacer

To me each album gets better and better. As I grow so do they, and so far Pearl Jam's collective state of mind has fit well with my own over the years. To each thier own...but commenting that Unthought Known is "uninspired" or "sux" is a true insult to the band IMO. GFY.
  • Jkestle you are pathetic . telling me to go fuck myself. you are probably out of a job and behind on your mortgage if you even could qualify....waiting for a handout like the rest its pathetic that you are angry at me over my opinon.
