Albany - 5/12/06 - Glad to see this show getting a little bit of love. Very similar to last week's Toronto show, but I liked this one a lot better for some reason.
Boston - 4/12/94 - A show that gets a lot of love. Second time I ever saw them and the first time was about a week earlier in Springfield, MA so I was feeling no pain. Just listened to an old boot I have of this show and they were really on fire at this point. Not really having as much fun with things, in retrospect, but as a band they were scorching.
Milwaukee - 6/29/06 - Spent my 30th in Milwaukee with my two favorite bands. Just a fucking amazing show. Didn't even care about the shorter set to be honest. And Eddie doing "The Waiting" with Petty and the Heartbreakers made it one of the best shows ever.
Reading - 10/1/04 - Haven't seen anyone mention this show. Great set list. Awesome vibe with the VFC tour. Totally missed Tim Robbins band and Death Cab as my friend and I were racing down from NYC after work. Found parking and ran into the Soveriegn Center just as the band hit the stage and the crowd exploded. Seats were far away, but in the best part of the arena for sound and it was incredible. Only show I have ever been to where Even Flow didn't make an appearance. Wish they released these shows as boots.
Mansfield - 7/2/03 - Night one, which a lot of people have already posted about. Very good show. I was really bummed that I couldn't stick around for the other two shows.
Funny - I've lived in NYC for 12 years and have never seen them at MSG and I grew up in CT and have seen them in Hartford twice, but missed the killer 2008 show (I was on a plane home from Alaska that night and caught them the 30th in Mansfield for another great show). The shows I saw in Hartford (96 and 98) while still great experiences are the closest to duds that I can recall, especially when reading over the setlists in comparison to other shows of the era. Thought they must have hated the venue or something (Hartford fans - not just PJ, but for anything not related to The Huskys - tend to be pretty apathetic). Never would have expected a show like last summer's at The Dodge.
You are so right about Reading VFC show.
Death Cab opening was great.
But then PJ opens with LBC and the whole crowd sings Love for well over 1 minute.

5th place is a tie between Berlin 06 & 09 - same venue, gorgeous weather both days, the crowds, chants, mexican waves.....
Berlin 09 (Brother, Sonic Reducer, Hard To Imagine, Bee Girl, Angie, and finally hearing Hail Hail & NAIS).
Berlin 06 (for the stellar versions of Black, Daughter/WMA, and Footsteps).
And honourable mention to the "dododooo" chant from Black done by the crowd without the band *during an encore break* at Scheessel Hurricane Fest 07.
5) 6.21.1998 - The Canyons, Salt Lake City, Utah: Eddie talking trash to Utahans, hilarious. ("Tough luck on that basketball game, by the way." [Bulls beat the Jazz to win the championship], "Dennis Rodman told me to tell you all to fuck off.")
4) 11.3.2000 - Idaho Center, Boise, ID: The first and only time PJ have played my home town. Fantastic crowd energy.
3) and 2) 10.30.1999 and 10.31.1999 - Shoreline Amphitheater (Bridge School Benefit), Mountain View, CA: Where do I begin? Not only PJ, but Neil Young, the motherf*cking Who, Green Day, Brian Wilson, Tom Waits, half of Smashing Pumpkins, all for a two-night run. Epic.
1) 12.7.1993 - Seattle Center Arena, Seattle, WA: My first PJ show. Now, I have been to Pantera, Tool, and Slayer shows, but never have I been fighting for my life trying to get out of a pit of that magnitude. The first of 3 homecoming shows on leg 1 of the vs. tour. I don't think any PJ show that I will ever see can top this one.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a

2. Hartford 6/27/08 - First Time seeing them as a diehard... they didnt dissapoint.. the whole set was fucking amazing
1. Chicago 8/24/09 - Still speechless.. such energy in that place that night.
I will be what i could be
Once I get out of this town
1. Chicago 2, 2009 -- hard to explain, but easy to justify. amazing. not only a masterpieces, but 4 of my top 5 played that night.
2. Hartford 08 -- everyone thought this would be a dud (in between NYC and Mansfield), but they bolted from the gate and never let up. Took a buddy to his first show -- even he was fired up.
3. St. Louis 03 -- opened with the best Present Tense ever. Probably a top one for me because of the seats (10th row center) and the sound. Great, great boot, as well.
4. Mansfield 1, 08 -- took my wife and daughter to her first show, so an emotional appeal to this one. had a great time in the lot afterward meeting new people and an excellent set list, as well. the Betterman sing-along was a major highlight.
5. (tie) Cincy 2000 -- again, a personal favorite. spent the day with some buddies. went to a Reds game, watch the PGA golf tournament at Hooters, had some Skyline chili, drank a lot and got to see Black and Porch for the first time.
5. (tie) KC 2003 -- one of the angriest rain storms I have ever seen led to a shorter set list than usual, but a killer version of release and a tight set. took me 3 days to dry out, but what a blast.
5. (tie) NYC 2008 -- awesome crowd and MSG for the first time. walked the city streets until 3 a.m. gotta love New York!

Not really a good question for me as the show in Toronto in 3 weeks will only be my 7th time seeing them . . . . so i will rank ALL 6 of the shows I've been to . . . . #1 - BARRIE, ON 08/22/98
Number 1 by far. My first time seeing them, general admission craziness, and it was my 20th birthday.
#2 - OTTAWA, ON 09/16/05
A home town show and they played for nearly 3 hours . . . amazing setlist
#3 - KITCHENER, ON 09/11/05
Amazing to see them in such a small venue
#4 - TORONTO, ON 06/28/03
Great venue, and decent seats given they were not 10C seats
#5 - TORONTO, ON 10/05/00
Not bad, but we were in the nosebleeds. The setlist was okay, but given we were so far away from the stage, I didn't really feel it....
#6 - MONTREAL, QC 10/04/00
Same reasons as above. Good show, and it was great to see them live again, but something was lacking given our proximity to the stage.
I can now squeeze Toronto '09 into the number 2 spot . . . . very close to Barrie '98, but I don't think anything will ever beat it, just because it was my first show . . . unless I win the lottery and am front row someday . . .
new list:
#1 - BARRIE, ON 08/22/98
#2 - TORONTO, ON 08/21/09
#3 - OTTAWA, ON 09/16/05
#4 - TORONTO, ON 06/28/03
#5 - KITCHENER, ON 09/11/05
Barrie 08/22/98 Montreal 10/04/00 Toronto 10/05/00 Toronto 06/28/03 Kitchener 09/11/05 Ottawa 09/16/05 Toronto 08/21/09 Toronto 09/11/11 Ottawa 09/14/11 Buffalo 10/12/13 Ottawa 05/08/16 Chicago 08/20/18 Ottawa 09/03/22 Nashville 09/16/22
1. Toronto 05.10.06. The crowd was incredible that night, and the band was feeding off of that. Incredible, incredible night! It nearly made up for me being out of the country in '05. :(
2. Toronto 08.21.09. Great set list - - I got to hear so many songs that I've been waiting for. Great crowd. Mike McCready was on fire.
3. Mansfield 06.30.08. Again, great set list. Pearl Jam was fantastic, as usual. My only problem was being surrounded by idiot frat boys on the way in and out of the venue, which has nothing to do with the concert itself, but slightly tainted my first PJ road trip experience.
4. Toronto 10.05.00. I was in the nosebleeds, but it was my first PJ show and I was on cloud 9. This was the night I fell in love with Binaural. Hearing the songs live gave me a greater appreciation for the album.
5. Toronto 06.28.03. My first 10C experience, which was awesome! I had a rockin' good time! The reason it's listed last is because I thought there were too many covers and they were touring in support of Riot Act, so lots of Riot Act that night.
1) Spectrum 4/28/03 - best show and crowd ever
2) Las Vegas 10/22/00 - 10th anniversay show - great setlist and Vegas - enough said
3) Borgata I - seeing PJ in a tiny venue was awesome
4) Holmdel 2003 - traded up MSG tickets for this and got 10th row center - closest ever been, perfect tailgate weather, great setlist
5) Camden II 9/1/1998 - 1st time ever saw them and was hooked ever since
note: was at State College 2003 as well but find that to be a bit overrated in my opinion.
