Barney Frank annoys me, but he is dead on in this one...

The Hitler/Obama comparisons are as retarded as the Bush/Hitler comparison, and anyone who uses them has no concept whatsoever of what Hitler did.

I'm sorry, but the lady completely lost all credibility when she pulled the Hitler card. Ignorance is NOT a legitimate point of view, and even if Frank had calmly and rationally refuted every single one of her points it still wouldn't have shut her up. You can't have an intelligent discussion with people like that. Because they aren't intelligent to begin with. As with a rabid dog, the only humane thing to do is put them down.

I'm not usually a big fan of Barney Frank, but the bitch got exactly what she deserved. And things like that need to happen more often.

he still should've explained why he supports it instead of just making insults. of course the Nazi reference is ridiculous but she asked why he supports it and all he did was make fun of her.

that's my point - i don't think she does ... you can't be objective and open-minded if it takes one word for you to discredit someone ... she could be the foremost historian on health care policies around the world but no one would know simply because she used the word nazi or hitler ...

maybe there is more of this video but from what i saw - she could very well have a good point but no one's interested in listening ... and that pretty much sums up why often people cannot compromise ...

another example: you mention al gore to some people and all they think about is - "that guy said he invented the internet - he's a nutjob" ... end discussion ...

we can't create dialogue or understanding without listening to people ... so, while some of y'all think this frank guy is king here - he just seems to be another politician who isn't really listening to me ...

Unfortunately, there are just some people who aren't worth listening to. And it would be a waste of time, effort and resources to do otherwise. If someone doesn't have anything worthwhile to say, what's the point in listening?

what's the point in even having a town hall meeting if you will only listen to/answer a certain group of people? she still helps pay his salary.

how about "because we as a society have a moral responsibility to protect our citizens." The first question in any of these discussions shouldn't be "why do you support health care reform?" It should be "why do you oppose health care reform?"

To be fair, based on the clip- things were cut out in his response. Larry King just emphasized Franks response to get his point across. Without seeing the whole tape, we don't know what other response he gave the woman.

And I bet that he did tell why he supports Obama's health plan. That is his main purpose for the town hall meetings. Her bringing up the Nazi reference just made her look stupid and made it look like she asked the question just to stir up the shit. If she really wanted a serious answer, then ask a serious question instead of accusing the president of having Nazi tendencies.

I agree that his response was a bit out of line and harsh- He did however, answer her question> He said that no where in this proposed health care plan did it state that there will be a cut in medicare or in funding.

A lot of the inaccuracies in this bill have made people jump to so many conclusions that it makes a rational discussion moot. Death panels, and cutting off funding for x group and giving funding to illegal people, etc...

No matter how many times it has been said- people will always believe what they want, and Frank told her that him trying to make her understand his position is pointless. If you believe what you believe, then its mighty hard to change your perception.
