Saw them in Dublin last year. Top gig. New album is their best in a long time, especially the first half. First six songs are top. Hope they come back over here"The mind is a wonderfull thing to be altered"

They didn't play in Dublin last year. Last show in Dublin was in the Village, November 1st 2007. There's UK dates up for October by the way!Crane wrote:Saw them in Dublin last year. Top gig. The gig in London was week was fabulous. They played "100 Broken Windows" in order, as well as a bunch of other tunes. Second time I've seen them do that. Went out on the tiles with the lads after, and had to come back to Dublin the next day feeling like crap. Good craic though. It's good to catch up with people you don't see often and renew old ties.My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. Ok, so I could've swore this band was breaking up due to not having a market anymore. Didn't Rod Jones post something like that maybe 7-8 months ago? Now I find they had some shows planned here for the U.S? Wow, this is great news. Love their albums. I have most of them. Not so hip on the newest one (probably one of my least favorites), but all of them I have is pretty good. Really like 100 Broken Windows. And how can you not like Low Light on Hope Is Important? So now I'm drivin the bus- Kramer

Those comments were basically made because Idlewild did a 40 date UK tour for the last album, and the band felt that since no offers for UK/European summer festivals were coming in, they'd give it a break for a while, feeling that 40 gigs was enough for that album.
Their old label, EMI, decided to re-release 100 Broken Windows last month, being that it's 10 years old. The band have a good relationship with EMI, and like their first 'Best Of' album, got very involved with picking tracks for the bonus disc of rarities that accompanied the re-release of 100 Broken Windows. The band then decided that some shows were in order to help promote it. They booked half a dozen UK shows (3 were last week, the other 3 are next week), and the offer of the US dates arrived. They accepted the US dates, of which there were 8, if memory services, 2 being in LA and 2 in New York.
Rod Jones subsequently fractured his "collar bone" (his word), but I think it might be closer to the joint (shoulder) than the actual collar bone (clavicle). I say this because in London he was wearing a shoulder immobiliser, whose job is to do exactly what it says on the tin. He probably shouldn't have been playing guitar in an immobiliser in the UK dates, either. As a consequence of the fracture, the US dates were cancelled.

Now they appear to be on a proper hiatus. I'd imagine that if some semi-lucrative festival dates get offered this year, they'll do them, but Roddy is regarding himself as a solo artist for 2011.My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. Definitely broken up. Roddy's continuing his solo thang though! Saw 2 shows recently-really, really good. Looking forward to the full band tour of Scotland in October/November.
