I seriously don't understand how people watch any of this crap...it's just reverse-Fox news jibbersish with quick 1 liners, graphics, etc to distract people into thinking they are enlightened when they are merely the same as the sheep they say they hate.hippiemom = goodness0

but it's trues, isn't it? this group passes itself off as grassroots while they accept money from a partnership of these companies who stated they want to disrupt any discussion on the subjectdon't compete; coexist

Although I do like Maddow...and I almost expect that special interest groups would be trying to fund these "town hall meetings".0 -
thing about mainstream media....its accurate. the facts they report are almost always correct....what makes it the machine it is is the how it reports those facts, and what facts it chooses to report.
i'm surprised rachel maddow even has a show, with some of the stuff she takes on. these so-called grassroots campaigns funded by multi national corporations...that's the kind of thing mainstream usually filters out.;
thanks for posting this. news to me.0 -

the rub is that it's all so subversive and intertwined ... it's not just the media, it's the education system, the politics behind what goes into the curriculums, it's health care, it's everything ... put it all together and then you figure out how it is that so much taxes go towards funding wars and the military industrial complex ... put it all together and someone like sarah palin can run for vp ... put it all together and you get an article on best buy having a pricing glitch as your top story in the US section of CNN.com ...0

I'd say the insurance companies have an interest in protesting them too.The only people we should try to get even with...

90% of news printed comes from the AP wire. you don't get to that point, even today under our system owned by corporations...you can't be responsible for 90% of the printed news and be incorrect with your numbers too many times.
that's all i'm saying, the information presented is for the most part correct, its the context and how its presented is what is so dangerous.
a break from that was during bush 2 and his administration selling us the war in Iraq. the media was so subservient they were not accurate with the facts....but that was an exception.. but it did show how obedient the media is to power.0 -

Mainstream media's 1st goal - to entertain, because that's "what people want". Why else are they still talking about Michael Jackson on every station? Their 2nd goal - to report only what's on the agenda and only tell what they want the public to hear. In other words, there's a LOT that we're not hearing. Thanks to Maddow and Stewart, they're the few that read between the lines and then report what they do. Oh, and their 3rd goal - to cause the public to be in general, fearful. The amount of fear-mongering is staggering.

Oh, so all the news about Michael Jackson is probably 90% accurate? And how are we to know? Is this news coming from AP? Ah, no. When the 4 major networks claim that talking about MJ even months after his death as "big news", any semi-intelligent person would wonder about the quality of our media AND the news they report, not just the context and the way it's delivered to us. Stories are told, even stories come from AP, but really...there's no proof that much of it is fact because there's so much more involved with the story. So you're right about the context, but to think that it's mostly fact? Please!0 -
Well that’s why I try to get my news from multiple sources. But it’s hard, you’re right because they each put their own spin it.
I’ve sometimes gotten so tired of deciphering thru it to figure out their angle, I’ve stopped watching it for a long period of time. that’s not cool, you outta know what’s going on in the world.
Then they talk about blogging taking over as a news source. That’s not any better because everybody has an opinion.
What happened to the selfless public servant? Did they ever exist at all, or are they like some mythical creature? The only ones I can think of, and my heart will be broken if I’m wrong, is this country’s four fathers back in the colonial days.*~Pearl Jam will be blasted from speakers until morale improves~*0 -

WHEN they report facts, they are for the most part accurate. i'm guessing there was plenty of speculation going on about michael jackson, i stayed away from that.
but the information presented has to be correct, if a station is caught telling lies on a nightly basis people tend to go someplace else for their "news", even within its roll as propaganda tool of the state. this isn't nam, there are rules.0 -

And you have this magical power of seeing through the bullshit and finding the facts in the news. Tell us your secret. It's not as easy as you say, they're masters of manipulation. It's like advertising; subliminally making you believe you're watching the truth because you know of no other news so you just believe, because it's all you know. Really, I'd like to know how you pick out the facts and sort out the rest in the news. Especially since our media is nothing more than a propaganda machine for our gov't. We only see what they want us to see. Watch international news and tell me that we're getting the same facts, universally. We're certainly not.

there are groups that study this very thing. it is possible to know this, "for sure". you or i could do a study.0 -
Just on this little debate you guys are having.. you can easily detect bullshit from the language a reporter or news correspondent uses. Fisk has published many articles about this. Very eye opening.
Anyway, if one was to sit there story after story and talk about Israelis defending against terrorists you can label that bullshit and switch channels. Or when you see that when a newspaper always publishes articles that give a negative view of a certain subject you know they're biased and their reports are likely not as credible as you would wish. There is a newspaper like this in Australia. The best article it can produce about the middle east is honour killings or harsh sentences against people. Not once has it published something decent about that whole area.0
