I'm staying at the Intercontinental Yorkville....booked on Hotwire. Anyone know anything about it? I know the area is pretty ritzy, but whatever. We are actually going to be staying from the 20th to the 24th, so we will spend a lot of time exploring the other areas of the city.
Never been to Toronto before, but used to live in NYC so I'm looking forward to seeing what a clean metropolitan city looks like! :D

The Intercontinental is probably the border between Yorkville (the ritzy area) and the U of T area. Walk east on Bloor and you'll walk by designer shops until Yonge. If you take Yonge south it gets a little grimier until College but still an interesting people-watching walk.
If you go west on Bloor when you leave the hotel there's lots of bars and restaurants with mostly U of T students... and Sonic Boom, which is one of the best cd/record stores in the city!

Ooh nice. Record stores, yes please. We are driving up from Pittsburgh, so I will be able to buy so much more junk than if we were flying.

Sonic Boom is at Bathurst and Bloor, about a 10 minute walk from your hotel. They have a huge selection of vinyl and the biggest selection of used CDs Ive ever seen in my life.. anywhere. If you're looking for new vinyl, the cheapest place is Criminal Records on Queen St. West.

Can someone please tell if there is over night parking anywhere near the Sheraton Centre Hotel? I really would like to avoid paying the $40 per night to park at the hotel. It's almost as much as i paid for the room!! Thanks in advance. See everyone at the show.

Is it going to be easy to access the Amphitheatre during the day with the CNE going on so I can get my 10C tix? I dont wanna have to pay to get into the CNE to just get my 10C tickets.

The Sheraton is directly across the street from city hall (Nathan Phillips Square) which has an underground "Green P" lot. Most downtown Green Ps are $6 overnight until 7am. Assuming you're not leaving the lot that early and staying beyond 7 am, I'm pretty sure the lot maxes out at $15-$20.

You won't have to pay anything. The access issues are going to be with driving/public transit and they will just be traffic. Once you're there and on your feet, the only issue is going to be the ticket lineup.

This is my favourite thread ever. It's hometown trivia!

In Ontario, you can't buy booze anywhere but in LCBO shops or The Beer Store. The LCBO has an excellent selection of imported, international beers with some locals as well. I feel like The Beer Store has more domestic stuff if that's what you're interested in.
I think the closest LCBO to the Delta Chelsea is the one at Yonge and Wellesley, about 5-10 minute walk north on Yonge. Here's their site if you want to do a search: http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo-ear/jsp/storequery.jsp

Not sure where the closest Beer Store is but here's their site: http://www.thebeerstore.ca/
Go with the Steelback Dark if you end up there. Their beer has really stepped it up since owbership changes a couple years ago. Yum

    Awesome!!!!!

I'm actually interested in the Belgian beers that InBev has YET to release in the US....Hoegaarden Grand Cru was my all time favorite beer (had to import it myself through thebelgianbeershop.com and it cost an arm and a leg)......and it is now discontinued. I wonder what other gems InBev is hiding from my American self.

I will DEFINATELY be at the LCBO....any ideas on their hours?

That is a great beer! I had it at the Bier Markt last year-ish. It sounds like you take your beer seriously, you should check out the Bier Markt as others have professed. An entire menu of import brews with MOST of them on tap. Happiest place on Earth. http://www.thebiermarkt.com/home.html
Also, not too far from your hotel, near the LCBO in fact, is Cafe Volo. They have mostly bottles, but a vast selection of new things to try.
All the LCBOs have different hours. I'd guess they're open 'till 9. Check out their website to know for sure.

God damn, grand cru on tap.....i've had to stick to bottles, but then again most Belgiums are better from bottle, but i woulda loved to try it from the tap.

I DO take my beers very seriously, rather than to "pound em down"

Bier Markt is already on my to-do list. In fact #2 on the list, after landing. Going there right after my flight arrives (around 5pm)....going for the beer braised short ribs, delirium moules....although I'd love to try the ones made with palm and duvel as well!

Wanna meet up there on thursday haha!

    Thanks!!!!

The food there is delicous and as I'm sure you know, anything with the pink elephant is good!

Ask and you shall receive... to the extent that I know anything.

    PJ picked the wrong weekend!
This past weekend was the "Taste of the Danforth" street festival. I didn't go this year, but have in years past. A big Greek street party with all kinds of restaurants serving food and samples in the street.

I missed it last year during the Ed tour, and now Pearl Jam's tour. No matter, i'm gonna take over Danforth when i'm in town. I have my spot of pastries & restaurant's that right next to the Odyssey Greek TV Station & Starbucks. I'm been going there since '05. :)

Find out what it's called, please. Sounds delicious.
The only place I go on the Danforth is called Allan's and there's nothing Greek about it... but it does have one of the biggest scotch collections and one of the best burgers in Toronto. It's so good it's not even on the menu. You have to ask for it!

Anyone where the best place to buy beer (bottles) near the Delta Chelsea? Looking for lots of variety of beers not available in the US.

    Thanks Toronto peeps!

    -Seth

There is a Beer store 4 blocks from the Chelsea. 4 Blocks in the wrong direction (Hookers, Pimps and crackheads apleanty). so take a friend.

There is a full Liquor store accross the street in the Atrium Mall. I manage the Delta Chelsea and will leave some directions for you at the Front Desk.
