i agree...they need to slow it the hell down and stop rushing through this song.
That's all besides the point, though. It's still great songwriting. Just because they haven't been playing it well does not lessen the greatness of the studio version.
very true. i love this song. the studio version is amazing..i was just saying that maybe they could "slow it down" a bit when they play it live.
GTF is too quick live but some other songs sounf great when they speed them up. RVM kicks ass at a little bit of a more intese tempo. Personally, I think GTF will be about number 12.

So far this guy doesn't like the 'angular' or 'abstract' PJ songs. I think he'll choose a couple of softer numbers at the top like Footsteps, Black, Daughter.

Have you ever seen whales plough through the ocean or breach the water, it is a beautiful sight. How many bands can actually sound like a whale or any other animal. If you get to see this one day put it on in your ipod or blast it if you are in your car & then you get into it.

I think he's been pretty spot on so far...

Bugs is BY FAR the best of the weird filler songs from any album, I mean I think its probably a 4 out of 5 stars on my iTunes...lol

Satan's Bed is easily in my book one of their top 10-20 songs, but to each his own...that whole album to me is my favorite album...

But I agree with a previous poster, some songs have to be at the bottom, and all but maybe 3 or 4 so far should be in the area they are....maybe you don't agree with their rankings in relation to other songs that have been rated, but regardless all of these songs (besides 3 or 4) should be rated in the lower quarter of Pearl Jam songs....I just hope and pray that he doesn't rank the cliche songs all in the top 10...

From this year's Christmas single, I certainly liked Golden State more than Santa Cruz.

Wow, those ten songs would make a great album. How amazing is this band we love so much, some of these stellar tracks aren't even inthe 100 best they have!!!!

They're both in my personal Top Ten! The top 100 should be very interesting!

Dude totally lost credibility w/ me when he ranked "Glorified G" lower than "I'm Open". I know it's just his opinion and whatever, but come on. That's preposterous.

even if just one number apart- no way is Save You better than NAIS, musically or lyrically.

How the hell did NAIS not even break the top 100? It should have at the very least been in the top 50 seeing it is one of their best songs! And Glorified G, Rats and Can't Keep being ranked that high?? What's this guy smokin'??

Of the Girl is a great song so IMO it made it's appearance on the list way too early and God's Dice should have been on here much, much earlier...like at #160 maybe. And Life Wasted is NOT better than WWS and can't even come close to the greatness that is Severed Hand (looking strictly at Avacado songs, because it's actually worse than about 75% of the songs listed before it) so how it made it into the top 100 is beyond me

I'm going to fathom a guess that the top ten will be---Jeremy, Garden, Why Go, Porch, Once, Release, Oceans, Even Flow, Alive & Black. Deep will come in at #11 ;)

Two of my personal top 15 favorites lead off the with numbers 100 and 99 . But, remember for others who were upset where some of there's were placed, this is just one persons opinion, just like liking those songs are mine. It's a fun list, and something to occupy the time until the new album.

Oh I know. It broke my heart to see where "I'm Still Here" ended up, but I understand why...it's just sad to see where other people place your favorite songs

Yeah once Sonic Reducer was relegated to the over 100 crowd I kinda got bored with this.

But I remain really impressed that you're finding videos for each and every song, I think that's the cool part of this.

  • Charles,

I was thinking, after reading this list, about Vs. We are just into the top half and we've already had Blood, Rats, WMA, Animal, Go, Glorified G and Dissident - mostly from the 100 to 75 area. That is pretty much the body ripped right out of the album with the exception of RVM.

Now, it seems to me that you rate anything in the top 100 as a good to great song, so you are not slapping these down but it does make vs seem a little more ordinary than I had previously ever considered it to be. I listened to Daughter today and the album version isn't as hot as live shows. So, by rating each song individually you've kind of made me re-evaluate 'vs'. I think that it is an album of solid tracks that works as a whole and becomes more than the sum of it's parts, whereas other albums have obviously weaker and much stronger tracks. I'd rate three or four songs from other albums in my ten twenty without putting that album above vs.

If I had to rate my favourite two Pearl Jam albums it would be Binaural and Vs, as they work as a whole, but if I had to rate the track individually neither of these would have much in the top ten or even top twenty PJ tracks.

    Anyone agree?

  • I've got to say, agree or not, I am definitely enjoying this little list... Often thought of doing something along these lines, but determined it to be impossible, since my "Top 5" alone could probably include any one of 60 Pearl Jam songs depending on the say...

Love the idea, the descriptions, and the videos.

Agreed. It's just a great list and an awesome read. I wonder where Given to Fly will end up...

i'm pretty pumped to see that many of my favorite live songs have not been listed yet. songs like immortality, in hiding, porch, release and rvm have to be in the top ten. i'm still pretty upset to see that parting ways wasn't way up on the list.

blood just defintely be in the top fifty; listen to any live version of this song and you'll feel the intensity.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...it BETTER end up in the top 5

Anyhow, I'm happy to see that Brain of J beat out Not For You, both great songs but IMO BoJ is just a teency bit better :)

HTI was a sore spot for me though, surprised to see it didn't break the top 25. Also surprised to see it was a Vs song, always thought it fit perfectly on Yield. You learn something new everyday.

Damn, 'Not For You' has gone... Oh well, I still think he's nuts for even trying to make this list and now that 2 of my all-time top 5 have fallen I'm intrigued to see how the rest shapes up.

I just attempted his challenge of compliling my 25 PJ songs... there are about 90 in my top 25 so far...hmm...

    3. r.v.m
    4. black
    5. porch
