I knew the stage was low, but it's crazy to realise exactly how low it is... less than 2 1/2ft off the ground.

For you 'shorties' - Tte floor is flat at SB (ie not sloped like at the Brixton Academy).

This is the main drawback of the venue to me. Even for non-shorties, you're not getting to see a whole lot from the floor.

Hang on a minute, surely there is no "drawback" about seeing PJ in a venue like this?!? :D The Astoria was awesome and this will be even better - positive thinking always works, trust me!

    See you down the front!

No no, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled. I'm just aware of the venue's short-comings. Me, I'll be parked in front of Jeff per usual =D

I know, I was just joking! I saw Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell there and I was surprised by how small it was. I don't suppose I'll care about the short-comings when I'm sitting on Stone's lap!

between Jeff and Mike for me ;)

I 'might' have a standing (if not then a L3 almost certainly)..but I'm not sure if I'll queue up or not.. I know I can get within 4-5 rows no matter when I walk in anyway (any other show than PJ that'd be 2-3 easy ;))...so as long as I'm not behind you or SoonForgotten2 (ie tall people) ;)

Interesting reAd thanks for posting Jeff. For years I have been saying that I would kill to see pj play in the Olympia in Dublin which is my favourite venue, and from looking at these pix, sbe is basically the exact same...Jesus Im giddy but I need sleep ;)

It's pretty awesome, isn't it? I'm still going "I can't believe I got tickets for it" over and over in my head. I've been very, very lucky with 10C over the past few years.

I must have checked that confirmation e-mail from 10C a hundred times just to check I hadn't misread it. Every time I see it I smile...

They won't let you stand on the stairs at SBE, so the lack of a sloped floor becomes more of an issue.

Saw the Derek Trucks Band there back in April and there were people stood on the stairs all through that one, gig was a sell out apparently, but seemed plenty of room to move about. Of course, if you stand by the top of the stairs you get a line of sight across the top of the crowd on the floor below and easy access to the bar. 8-)

its going to be awesome. fortnight to go.

No support band really intrigues me? an extended set? a vedder solo to open?

oh goose pimples thinking about it

There was no support band at the Astoria either, and it was 'just' a 'normal' PJ set. It's PJ in a 2,000 space theatre, it's going to be brilliant and you're going to have a great time. There probably won't be an extended set or an EV solo slot, but it will be one of the greatest gigs ever.

The more you expect from it, though, the greater the chance of you being disappointed by it. And if I read anyone coming on here after the gig saying they were disappointed with it I'll be fuming  :D
If I knew where it was, I would take you there...

Oh yeah i know that, look there is no way on gods earth I will ever find myself walking out of a PJ show disappointed, I dont see how that can happen. really i dont. I find that extremely baffling. Someone was on here recently saying that they thought the wembley show in 07 was shit, and that they the band looked uniterested. That was bizarre, Vedder climbing the speaker stacks during an extended Porch, and going nuts sure looked like a bored man to me ;)

No I'll take an hour, and enjoy it all the same. But the thought of a small preset is exciting too....who knows, hell they have been known to it many a time, and look at the gorge for an example of that.

I even wondered about the Berlin early entry but came to the same conclusion as you, that means nothingn really, except a little chance to get that little bit closer as a perk of our memberships.

Yeah but the Astoria show had no support to offset the earlier finish because they had the G-A-Y club thing afterwards. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we get an extended set or some EV solo before hand - maybe wishful thinking though!

I'd like to think we'll get a long set, but if we do it'll be because they'll start earlier. I've seen a few shows at SBE and they're always very hot on curfew not being broken. Where a band has been partway through a song they've been allowed to finish but not start another one once 11pm has passed. As doors opening is 6:30 I can see PJ starting at 8-8:15 to fit in a longer set.

Where there is a will there is a way. You deserve them for perseverence alone.
