  • i really hope we do, but I think if they play new material they probably won't release boots until after Backspacer comes out. just my gut.

So, on that logic, the Seattle shows will be the first bootleg shows of the season? I am FINE with that!
  • wow .. couldn't disagree more. i think the 00 boots were the most quiet and not-so-great sounding of all the official year boots.

That would make sense if you were talking about the European boots. The US boots are plenty loud (you would have to be deaf to think they're too quiet). And the mixing is perfect...everything is blended perfectly...guitars sound awesome...drums sound awesome...crowd at just the right volume. The 2008 boots are horrible in comparison...awful mixing...guitars sound weak...drums sound like cardboard...too much bass...too loud. So I really don't know what you're talking about.

I'm 100% with you, it baffles me how they could get it so right in 2000 and then see them progressively slide downhill in quality since then. 2003 and 2006 were not all that bad (though I think 2005 was pretty mediocre) but 2008 were flat-out terrible. I can't believe someone actually got paid to make them sound like that (or that they listened to it and thought "yeah, that's good enough!"). Poor mixing and worse mastering, it really presents the band in a bad light when I'm sure they'd sound so much better if mixed like the 2000 shows.

I'm really hopeful of an improvement in 2009 but have prepared myself for disappointment all the same...

2003 are mixed very well but they have a "baked", over-compressed sound to them that I don't like very much. 2006 sounds a little bit better but the mixing isn't as good, especially for the first few shows where you can barely hear Mike, and the guitars have lost their balls somehow. 2008 not only sounds bad, but the mixing is pretty strange. For some of the shows, Mike has been brought almost to the center, and Stone is halfway to the right. The hard left/right panning they've been using since 1992 has gone out the window. There's one song in particular (can't remember which show) where you can hear Mike pan from hard left to the center in the middle of a solo. Sounds like a mistake to me...I've NEVER heard anything like that on a Pearl Jam boot. Remember that Brett didn't do the 2008 boots so I hope they bring him back at least.

Personally I love all the Boots to date, they are all great and cannot be bothered with the 2000's bass sounds a little crunchier than the 2008 boots, and the 2003's audience is a little too much compared to the fan made boot from 1993....boring....just enjoy them people.

In the meantime, big bump for 2009 boots.

Has there been a Pearl Jam tour in recent years where they haven't done official boots? I think it's safe to assume
that they will be doing them.
