Aha Shake Heartbreak - it's their most complete album in my opinion not a song on there I can skip when I put it on, probably in my Top 10 all time. It's a quick but wonderful record.

    In this order:

Aha Shake Heartbreak [Key songs: "Slow Night, So Long," "King of the Rodeo"]
Because of the Times [Key songs: "Black Thumbnail," "Arizona"]
Only by the Night [Key songs: "Crawl," "Manhattan"]
Youth and Young Manhood [Key songs: "Molly's Chambers," "Trani"]

They're all good, though. So it's understandable to put the albums in any order that you want.

I just have Only by the Night and that's pretty good
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

Aha and Because of the Times (which I'm listening to riiiiight now!)

Yup, these would be my choices as well.

Aha mainly because that's what they were supporting when I saw them for the first time. It's a really good album, and Because Of The Times is damn good too.

I don't think they're looking for radio play - Caleb stated he's very surprised that "Sex on Fire" became a hit and that it almost didn't even make the record, and the band's label wanted them to release "Fans" as the first single to Because of the Times, but they didn't want to as they thought it would be too big a hit - I think that's just the type of music they feel like making. You can't expect bands to just release carbon-copies of their previous albums.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I get so sick of everyone ripping KOL that they changed their sound just to get huge. Every band changes their sound somewhat from record to record. Can't keep making the same record over and over.

I can honestly say that I really like all their albums but Aha is probably my favorite. I really like Only By the Night and Because of the Times but I think there are too many fillers on it. I kind of wish they took the best of both and made one album out of it.
  • Because Of The Times!
I will be what i could be

  • Their last two albums have gotten progressivley more boring. Because of the Times is still really good IMO. Black Thumbnail is amazing.

My fave is Aha . Slow Night w/ Eddie at Lollapolooza is a must have mp3. Four Kicks is the funnest song I have heard in some time. Youth and Manhood is probably my second favorite. Trani from this album is probably their best live song, in fact this perfomance turned me on to KOL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su-PfHBuuV0

Please! Clearly that awful "Use Somebody" was a blatent attempt at becoming a Radio band. . OBTN was KOL going for it. And they got it. They are playing arenas now in even mid major markets.

Because of the Times has a fuller more structured sound, but that was not for radio with a song like Knocked Up as their single. OBTN was.
