    Mrs.Vedder78,

were you sitting on the curb next to the gate? i could have sworn that was probably you but in my shyness didn't say anything

I was sitting behind the light pole with 3 friends.
I was wearing a blue and yellow AC/DC shirt, don't know if I'm the same girl you are thinking of but being that we were both waiting outside we probably saw each other for sure. :)

I sat in the 11th row thanks to Jecica and the 10 Club. Another great show. In my opinion this show had one of the best set lists of the entire tour.

Some of my favorites were: The lullabye version of Betterman. Really beautiful!
Untitled (totally surprised to hear this song)
Gone (always one of my favorite PJ tunes...gave me goosebumps)
    Millworker (cool tune)
I won't back down (another surpise to the set list)

But the highlight of the evening was The End. This song is so beautifully written and very sad. Can't wait to hear the album version on Backspacer.

The crowd was a little bit rowdy. Some guy kept yelling at Ed and he said something like "I don't tell you what to do at your job at Kinkos so don't tell me how to do my job". Liam made a joke about "second cummings" and Ed's face turned bright red and he laughed so hard he almost fell off his stool. Ed also jumped on his foot chair and ended up wipping out on the stage. He came back and jumped on the foot chair again while it was lying on the floor and got it to stand up right all while smoking a cigarette.

I think both Atlanta shows were a million times better then the Albany 1 show that I went to. I liked the Cobb Center over the Palace. The setlists were better. The energy and atmosphere was better. Also, I got to meet Ed in Atlanta and didn't in Albany. This is only my opinion though.

Did anyone remember when that guy ye'lled out "Creed" and Eddie gave a funny response? I can't remember what he said exactly but it was funny to see his reaction lol
  • I would KILL to hear Ed cover Bobby Jean!

You guys are lucky... this setlist looks incredible.

    Couldn't agree more
  • A few loud people, including one completely smashed person wondering "why didn't Eddie fuckin' rock?" G
    PJ come back to ATL!

I saw him in Nashville and Eddie did "f-in rock" on Porch - I bet it was the same in ATL. Too bad that guy didn't f-in stay home and let somebody more deserving get the ticket.

Were you and your friend the ones who yelled during millowrker when he sang about the no good man from Mass?

If so I was right behind you.

Both shows were good...but night 1 was better. ;)

I had a great time both nights, met some new friends, and put a lot of miles on the car....well worth it!!!

    Until next time...

Yes that was us...We are the Massholes :D There was another girl from Mass next to us so we can't take all the credit..

No worries about the yell. Were you the one with or without glasses? The one without the glasses asked me abut the title of one of the songs (if that rings a bell).

It would be awesome if we got bootlegs...because Bobby Jean was something I'll never forget. I was sorry to not be there night 1 to hear Growin' Up but night 2 was really special...especially with the addition of another Bruce cover. I think when he started playing it I grabbed my Dad's arm really hard I was so shocked and happy. :D

What's the story behind Bobby Jean? Wow, would have loved to see that... can't help but it made me think of my hubby Bobby. ;) But the first thought was of Brendan O'Brien... and would like the details of the story.
Ed covered Springsteen's Bobby Jean tonight, that was the highlight for me. Also broken out tonight: Untitled, Millworker, Won't Back Down, Gone, Don't be Shy. Great follow-up to night 1, I give night 2 the slight edge based upon Bobby Jean and Untitled.

Does anyone have a recording of Bobby Jean?

I hope not...as much as it'd be really really sweet...but that would be so disrespectful towards EV since he made it clear he didn't want any type of recordings or pictures.

Look at his shows as a living room setting... you are entering his "home" and sitting in his "living room"....and naturally, people entering other people's living room as guests would be expected to show respect.

    I'm just saying...
JA: Why do I get the Ticketmaster question?
    EV: It's your band.

What a great show. I'm still trying to live off this high for the past couple days but reality keeps getting in the way. I had a great time but didn't have anyone to go with and going that way sucks. Next time I hope to meet you fans and maybe get to know you more before and after the shows. After I got home I really regretted not really having anyone to socialize with and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who wasn't able to get someone to go with them.

But I had fun. :) I wish I could have stayed another day in Atlanta just to let the concert mood linger but we drove home around 2pm the next day.
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.

I brought my notepad, and I've got quotes!

He sets the tone early since it's the last mainland show: "I think we should all just let it all f *king hang out"

In response to a fan yelling that they love him: "Have we met before, though? Or is this like first date syndrome? You love me now but..." He smiles, there's laughter.

In response to somebody yelling something that was inaudible from the stage: "I've been on the road for 18 years. I can't hear sh*t." Then he goes into talking about how loud it gets standing in front of Jeff Ament's bass amp.

In response to a heckler: "I barely heard what you said, but f * you. I came here in a good mood and you're not gonna ruin it."

In response to the ENDLESS song requests: "I don't go into f *ing Kinkos and tell you how to do YOUR job" <laughter and cheers>

He compliments the upper level for being heckler-free: "I don't hear anything rude and offensive coming from up in the 3rd balcony"

He also improved the lyrics to Untitled (as in the Untitled/MFC combo):
"Got a car. Got some gas. It's so f *king hot down here. Let's get out of the South fast!"

Then there's the whole cursing apology. It was just too long to capture. But here's the gist...
He dedicated a song to a 10 yr old, Brandon. Don't remember which song, but he messed up a little. Then afterwards he said "I think one of the many reasons I f *ked that up slightly, you know that first..." .He stops and realized that he's saying the f * word, when he just dedicated the song to a little boy. Then he did a big apology that started with: "i just feel bad about cussing in front of a 10yr old". But then in the apology he said f *k again. So then he just went with it, saying f *k about 30 times in the course of just a few sentences "....I know I look pretty cool sitting up here saying f *k, but f *k that. Don't start saying f *k. If u start saying f *k then I'll be pretty f *king mad at you. And your dad will be f *king mad at me. So f * that."

Somebody else can write about the second coming joke that Liam told.... I don't have the exact quote because I was too busy laughing.

don't let the quotes fool you. he actually kept up good spirits and gave us some great great songs. performance was solid. the song request people really just couldn't appreciate what was being handed to them and they didn't let up for the entire show.... all the way down to when Ed started up The End. As the opening chords were strummed, somebody finally shouted "Play what you want!" and Ed lifted his eyes and nodded in agreement.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz going to bed now g'night.
great post..thanks for sharing this one.l

..and did anybody meet eddie in atlanta either night, before/after the shows outside or wherever?
met him after the show night 1. there is a youtube video up now. the girl filming was to my right. when eddie got to me i said, "thank you for the daniel johnston cover tonight." then my girlfriend shook his hand and blurted out, "we're from texas!" to which he replied, " great.. i'm not!"

i will never forget that night :)

i thought about waiting outside for night two but didn't. i had my moment the night before. not sure if he ended up coming out. no one has mentioned anything yet.

he is such a sweet guy doing that for his fans

    Nice video ;)

I went to both ATL shows. I was In Orch Row B "6th Row" on left side of stage 1st night and 2nd Night Orch Row CCC. 3rd Row on Left hand side. 2nd Night I had on a red t-shirt that said SURF OR DIE!. Just incase you saw me really quiet for most of the shows majority of the time sitting in awe! These was my first Solo EV shows. Thank you Ten Club for getting me unbeleiveable seats. I have been to alot of PJ shows over my years. Purchasing through tenclub many up this close. I thought the these 2 nights were a gift. I kept saying to everyone around me before the show... Today is a good day. I dont complain about people around me making fools of themselves. The ultimate highlights of these shows were hands down ARC, Gone, Soon Forget. I was hoping for a Neil Young song!!! Society and Guaranteed were beautiful. The kinkos comment and the guy yelling play what you want were great. I really dig Liam. Just like I really Dig Kings Of Leon from seeing them last year. So Giant Thank you Eddie, Giant Thank you Ten Club.

Was anyone close enough to my section to hear the drunk redneck who kept saying, "Play Society, Eddie!" about 20 times??

Actually, it sounded more like "Play susEYEty, Eddeh" and although it was annoying, you couldn't help but laugh.

The kicker was, this dude gets up and heads out after the first set, Eddie comes back on and plays the damn song, and the guy totally misses it....and ends up coming back to his seat after it was over.

The setlist was great for both ATL shows, but I thought night one was better...

Yeah that dude was a row or 2 behind me and kept pissing me and my wife off. I think he wanted Off He Goes too.
  • Why do I not remember Porch?!

I guess I was in the men's room at the time?

Here's hoping I get tickets for a solo show this summer and he plays it again so I can hear it this time!!!
