    It's still a concert!

I hate all these people saying that everyone should be on their best behavior! If Ed wanted to have a quiet session with no interuption he would do it at his house. You have to expect the occasional asshole at a show...

I'm sure it doesn't hurt his feeling or ruin the show because some drunk yells out "even flow" or "Jeremy". Lets face it, there are al lot of people in the world that know Eddie Vedder soley from his early work with PJ.

Its more than just the "occassional asshole". I think everyone expects a bit of yelling here and there but when its as constant and distracting as it has been at the solo shows, it does ruin people's ability to enjoy the music, (and also Eddie's ability to perform properly)

I've said it before, the EV show in Vancouver (his first solo show) was one of the worst concert experiences I've had, ever, it was simply too difficult to get swept away in the vibe of the music when Eddie is competing with a LARGE segment of idiots in the crowd, not just a handful. I've been to many shows with different artists and different vibes and I've never seen such idiotic morons as I did at that show. I would never pay to go to see an Eddie Vedders solo show again, and that's not because of the artist its because I know what kind of audience will be there.

    2shay haha

i see what this girl is sayin, and i agree.. but i think someone said it above... TIMING IS everything... if you yell out PATRIOT while he is giving his speach about THOMAS YOUNG or the WEST MEMPHIS 3 thats goin to annoy him and it is somewhat disrespectfull... but at the right TIME... Ed has a open mind and is open to comments/suggestions that arent retarded...

ATLEAST nobody has yelled out for "BLOOD" yet hahaha..

Obvious? Aparently not to a good portion of people attending his shows.

Ed will not play heavy Pearl Jam songs
Ed will play few Pearl Jam songs if any
Ed doesn't want to hear your song requests
Ed wants you to sit down
Ed will do a lot of talking and if you know anything about Ed, you should expect this (and like it, in my opinion)
You will not be able to "rock out"
Ed and everyone else wants you to SHUT UP!

Eddie Vedder IS NOT Pearl Jam. He will not play Alive and Evenflow. If this is new to you, please sell your ticket to someone who knows the show will be MELLOW and ACOUSTIC (mostly).

99.99999% of the people this applies to aren't ever on this board :) ... but I agree with your sentiments

I was at the Newark show I got the impression that a lot of people there did not get what Eddie was trying to do! That or they were expecting a Pearl Jam concert! The guys sitting next to me were actually thinking about leaving during the first set break! Eddie even told the crowd to sit down relax and enjoy the show before he played the first song! He was trying to set the vibe for the show!

Ed will do this and ed wont do that and ed wants this and that. Who are you? his official spokesperson?

He actually played an acoustic version of PORCH last night that was awesome. HARD SUN was not mellow at all. It was all good.

He wanted people to stand a few times cuz he said so. He also wanted us to sing along at times. Most of us were pretty respectful of him. But I could see that he was terribly annoyed by the 1/2 dozen people out of all that were dumbasses.

This is based on what I experienced last night.

Don't forget that he has also played "Porch" on this "Into the Wild" tour. I witnessed that in San Diego, night 1. It's not the same as the full-on jam with the other members of Pearl Jam, but appreciated by me, just the same.

I'll be there tomorrow night in Chicago to see Eddie for my much-needed musical therapy....I know what to expect and I can't wait. :)

Jesus people!! It's just common sense! I was being overly blatent because some people just don't get it. One person is not 6 people with 6 instruments. If Eddie tried to play Jeremy by himself, not only would it be stripped down the basics and probably not that good, but it would not satisfy the people yelling for it. I am not trying to be demanding, or claiming to know what Eddie wishes and desires. It's just obvious, especially when Eddie vocalizes his wishes. It's called SOCIAL BOUNDRIES and POLITENESS. I guess certain Pearl Jam fans are less educated than I thought. Or just sloppy drunken alcoholics.

If you are a casual fan of Pearl Jam and notice that EV is coming to your local area for a performance, you may go in not knowing what to expect.

This concert is for everyone...not just 10C fans, not just "die-hards"...everyone.

In that bunch, you're going to have some casual fans that came to hear "Jeremy" or didn't realize that he released solo material last year.

Again, curb alcohol sales...and it can be done...I've been to at least one concert (not EV) where alcohol was not for sale...and you'll see this problem settle down.

I don't condone disrespectful fans, but they're out there. The artist, venue and security should come up with a plan of action to avert this kind of action.

Certain portions of the show welcome the crowd to get up, sing-a-long sure...

But "Dead Man"??? why people feel the need to start a clap along to that one is beyond me...It's not exactly a happy shiny get up and rock type tune.

This acoustic show thing really isn't a very hard concept to grasp. No one is saying that you can't clap, sing, and have fun.

The point is...You have to be respectful of the people around you that are there to hear Eddie.

If you are standing up while everyone else is sitting...screaming at the top of your lungs, acting like a crack driven spazz, you may end up pissing others around you off.

The thing about these venues is that they are really small. They aren't arenas. Ed is just up their with an acoustic guitar. The sound coming from the stage is alot quieter than at a regular full blown arena show by Pearl Jam.

Your voice will carry alot more and it may not be (no matter what your voice sounds like) welcomed by others around you.

Yelling out requests for Pearl Jam songs that Eddie didn't even write is another story altogether. It's stupid, pointless, and just plain ignorant.

If Eddie wanted you to write the setlist for him...He'd ask for your opinion.

Just be curtious of others around you. We're all fans, we all payed money, some of us came from miles away to see these shows. This may be a once and a lifetime deal.

Let's all walk away from this with a good experience right?

Actually, I want to say it was AC/DC. Some of the members were trying to sober up and asked the venue not to allow sales of alcohol.
