Obvious? Aparently not to a good portion of people attending his shows.

Ed will not play heavy Pearl Jam songs
Ed will play few Pearl Jam songs if any
Ed doesn't want to hear your song requests
Ed wants you to sit down
Ed will do a lot of talking and if you know anything about Ed, you should expect this (and like it, in my opinion)
You will not be able to "rock out"
Ed and everyone else wants you to SHUT UP!

Eddie Vedder IS NOT Pearl Jam. He will not play Alive and Evenflow. If this is new to you, please sell your ticket to someone who knows the show will be MELLOW and ACOUSTIC (mostly).

Didn't he open himself up on that one though. Isn't that why "Believe You Me" was played?

Yeah but "Jeremy" "Black" "State of Love and Trust" and "Crazy Mary" won't be played.

The setlist is already made prior to the show. There is no point in yelling out requests.

"Believe You Me" and "Patriot" were special to Toronto cause we were awesome :)

well, he *does* play Lukin ... but, I agree with your post.

As I feared, it sounds like the shouting, screming, moronic loudness got worse on the east coast.

Has he tried addressing the crowd at the outset? He shouldn't have to, but, it would be nice for those that would appreciate him, and only him, talking.

    Again, it's sad, because in a crowd of 2,000 ... it's usually only 20 - 30 people.

Yes, but he open the door for dialog between the audience and the performer.

I don't agree with folks being disrespectful to the artist on stage. An easy solution would be to curb alcohol sales...get rid of some of that liquid courage. ;)

Unfortunately that would involve Eddie compensating the venue for lost sales... he can afford it but c'mon, he has to pay for silence? People just need to down right RESPECT.

Just some information for those who show up expecting Mike to shread during Even Flow. Same reason you don't go to Pearl Jam and expect to sit down.

You're not going to get a 100% die-hard crowd of Eddie Vedder fans. There will be some with over-the-top personalities.

If the artist is unsatisfied with the antics of a particular few and they are going against the rules of the venue, then see to it that they are escorted out.

Did this sort of thing happen at Storytellers or on the West Coast? Why is this now becoming a problem?

    he listened.

its all about timing though. theres always a right and wrong time to do anything.

we didnt do it while he was talking, or singing, or anything like that.

    it was in-between sets.

    it was completely respectable.

like a lot of things in life, it was just good timing..

not everyone is as well informed as you

a large percentage of people at the shows are not hardcores they are just out for a fun night-most are pretty civil, but some are not-tis the way it is unfortunately

No shit. Maybe 50-100 people in the audience come to this board all the time. I know there are 10c people too, but not all of them are Pit people.
If I was a casual Roger Waters fan, I'd probably expect to hear some Pink Floyd tunes at a Roger Waters solo gig.

Not everyone is fucking obsessive, following every setlist, analyzing, showing up at noon to get in line for a Jamily Poster, etc.

    It's still a concert!

I hate all these people saying that everyone should be on their best behavior! If Ed wanted to have a quiet session with no interuption he would do it at his house. You have to expect the occasional asshole at a show...

I'm sure it doesn't hurt his feeling or ruin the show because some drunk yells out "even flow" or "Jeremy". Lets face it, there are al lot of people in the world that know Eddie Vedder soley from his early work with PJ.

Its more than just the "occassional asshole". I think everyone expects a bit of yelling here and there but when its as constant and distracting as it has been at the solo shows, it does ruin people's ability to enjoy the music, (and also Eddie's ability to perform properly)

I've said it before, the EV show in Vancouver (his first solo show) was one of the worst concert experiences I've had, ever, it was simply too difficult to get swept away in the vibe of the music when Eddie is competing with a LARGE segment of idiots in the crowd, not just a handful. I've been to many shows with different artists and different vibes and I've never seen such idiotic morons as I did at that show. I would never pay to go to see an Eddie Vedders solo show again, and that's not because of the artist its because I know what kind of audience will be there.

i see what this girl is sayin, and i agree.. but i think someone said it above... TIMING IS everything... if you yell out PATRIOT while he is giving his speach about THOMAS YOUNG or the WEST MEMPHIS 3 thats goin to annoy him and it is somewhat disrespectfull... but at the right TIME... Ed has a open mind and is open to comments/suggestions that arent retarded...

ATLEAST nobody has yelled out for "BLOOD" yet hahaha..

I was at the Newark show I got the impression that a lot of people there did not get what Eddie was trying to do! That or they were expecting a Pearl Jam concert! The guys sitting next to me were actually thinking about leaving during the first set break! Eddie even told the crowd to sit down relax and enjoy the show before he played the first song! He was trying to set the vibe for the show!

Ed will do this and ed wont do that and ed wants this and that. Who are you? his official spokesperson?

He actually played an acoustic version of PORCH last night that was awesome. HARD SUN was not mellow at all. It was all good.

He wanted people to stand a few times cuz he said so. He also wanted us to sing along at times. Most of us were pretty respectful of him. But I could see that he was terribly annoyed by the 1/2 dozen people out of all that were dumbasses.

This is based on what I experienced last night.
