**Petition To Not Offer Signed SDE For Next Release**

Personally, I LOVE the idea, but there are clearly far too many ungrateful recipients of the SDE. I realize that you can't make everyone happy, but this has become absolutely OBNOXIOUS!!
It really is embarassing to read some of the posts from, what I can only assume is a 16 year old (give or take a few years??) bitching about how it was marketing "ploy" to sell more copies. Seriously, take a step back, and read your post before you hit "Submit". You sound like donkeys. Ungrateful, winey, annoying donkeys.
It was a wonderful gesture to offer this as an insentive to buy from the 10C...
...but I must have missed where it mentioned that everyone would receive (deserved) a signed copy

As I stated above, I know you can't make everyone happy, but it's getting absurd. I guess my frustration has to do with the fact that I'm embarassed to be a part of a group of people that would be so unappreciative.
And also, as stated above, I LOVE the idea and thought it was a wonderful gesture!! I ordered it from the 10c because I order everything PJ from them...the potential of receiving a signed copy was exciting, bit I'm not going to come on here and complain and say it's "not fair" that I didn't receive a signed copy.
GET OVER IT. That's all
i wonder if some of these people think if they go into a gas station and buy a lotto ticket, they "deserve" to get a winner everytime.
I think to many people got their hopes up that all of the pre orders would be signed.
I am just really greatfull for all the thought that went into the set.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.
and people too often assume the 10c+pearl jam are gods. not in the praise sort of way, but in the "they can never be wrong or mess up or make a mistake ever." they try to be nice and people get hurt. they do one thing, people complain. they do the opposite, people complain. i bet if the SDEs came out included with everyone's membership ($5 for those who aren't members), all signed and hand delivered to them personally by Ed, each catered specifically to the desires and needs of everyone who ordered one, perhaps THEN people will be happy. but then again, there will be that one person who would've preferred mike over ed and complain about it
since when did pearl jam HAVE to cater to every one of our whims? they WANTED to do something nice for us and what do people do? spit it in their face. i must admit, i'm sure theres a valid complaint in there somewhere amongst the greedy masses... and no, i'm not a blind sheep, i just give people the benefit of the doubt. if i was i'd be wearing an obama t

It makes sense for them to have a marketing ploy. When they sell to us directly, they're getting $140 per unit. When they sell to Best Buy, they're getting... what... about $50 per unit at the most, probably less? And if those ones go thru Sony, then probably even less than that.
The "free shipping" was a marketing ploy to buy early. So was the signatures chance. Anything in the description is a marketing decision.
However, anyone who is personally upset they didn't get a signature doesn't have the right to feel that way... though I think if they told the truth and said "may win one of 30-40 signed copies" then they would not have sold as many directly, and made that much less money. But it was their choice on how to word it.

100% agree
weighing up my despair at having to part with more cash and the potential joy of the eagerly awaited SDE,& that it may be a signed one.
Does anybody know how many signed ones were sent out? did any make it to england?
I"d rather have the chance to get one than not,you pay your money you take your chance
very well put and very hard to disagree with, even if you come in the 'these people can do no wrong' category.
I don't think even 1 has been announced on the forum.
...btw - you Europeans got royally screwed. I hope they send you all a t-shirt or something... something to justify the additional $100 you spent to support the band directly, rather than buying it (presumably) at your local music store, or elsewhere online. It would be one expensive t-shirt, but still better than nothing.

About what? The fact they didn't get a signed one? Sure. I agree. They could have signed 2 and technically been within their marketing offer to buy direct, and buy direct early.
But there are some very legitimate problems by buying it directly, and in my opinion, people have a right to be upset about those legitimate complaints. People in the US though, not much room for complaints. We would have saved maybe $12 by buying it thru BestBuy, plus some free Rockband tracks.

You make some good points dude, but the problem I have is people coming on here and acting like they were duped into buyig on from the 10C bacause of some wording in the marketing. If they had mentioned they were signing 10 copies, I am pretty confidant they would have sold just about the same amount of units...
Think about it. When BK announces a sale, people lose it and that's just at the chance at receiving a S/N print (and chances are it's going to be signed by BK, not PJ(Chicago is the obvious exception))...
People in Europe did get a little boned, but like you said, people in the States have NOTHING to bitch about.
well put. i agree. i still think it is very weird that no signed copies have shown up on here, or even on ebay. i think it is very odd. im sticking to my thought that we will all be getting a holiday single in the next month or so WHICH will be the first single (an b side) from the album AND they will be signed.
that would be amazing. doubt me if you want, but can't a guy dream?

I couldn't agree with you more!
Fair enough...
-People complaining that they were caught up in the drama of the moment and don't own a record player and are having buyer's regret, no need to complain.
-People complaining that they didn't get a signed copy, no need to complain.
-People complaining that they would have saved $12 and gotten a few Rockband tracks for free... not much room for complaint. We all know that Best Buy sells albums for slightly less on the first week of sales.
-People complaining that PJ really could have signed more than 30 or 40 considering the quantity they were selling, or at least have mentioned they were only signing 30 or 40... ok, gray area, but I'll say some right to complain. They could have spent a solid day signing 100 or 200 or so, but technically signing 2 would have sufficed.
-People in Europe who paid $140, plus $50... and are now getting hit with an unexpected $30 or so charge, I'd say they definitely have a right to complain. PJ could have said something like "You will be able to buy this for 1/2 the price if you buy from your local music store if you live in Italy, Spain, France, Germany...". Especially when previous purchases from TC have not had these crazy surcharges. TC should really make it right by giving them 5 or 10 years free membership or something. $220 versus $99... no brainer.

All excellent points.
I am perfectly OK with PJ saying buy now and have a chance to get a signed copy...I didn't get one, but I had a chance...and I didn't HAVE to buy it, I had the cash and wanted it...no regrets here!!
Whatever you are, be a good one --Lincoln
According to someone from Greece, SLC agreed to a refund for him because of the extra costs. I'm assuming this will only be for those who did not listen to SLC's request to accept the packages.

...I hope those who accepted the packages because of SLC's advice will still have this option, so they can buy it at a reasonable price locally.

My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-12
Again, apparently I didn't lay the sarcasm down thick enough in my OP...
This is what I was trying to get at...
SO
Still all my respect to 10c and PJ!
I definitely DON'T sign this pointless petition.
