How awful is this. Death toll will probably rise.
My thoughts are with those affected.

Terrible events, those poor CFA fighters.
How hot was it yesterday?! This weather is insane.Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140

Oh my god! That's horrible. Those must be very fast moving fires. My thoughts too, are with all those affected."What the CANUCK happened?!? - Esquimalt Barber Shop0

I cannot stop thinking about how terrible those fires must have been. The weather has been unbearable down there. The weather has gone nuts! Between Melbourne and Adelaide as well as over 60% of Queensland being in flood one wonders what will happen next! My thoughts go to people who have lost so much, it is a very sad day.“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0

It's amazing to think how polarised Australia is. One extreme up North to another down South.

It is amazing that with all the technology etc we have at our disposal that these fires have been able to take so much life. It really does show that mother nature is formidable.littledee wrote:With all this violence in the world, Mother Nature is our worst enemy
It is incredible to think that they think some people have lit some of the fires on purpose?“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0

The news is making me cry and I feel like being sick...you always think that this type of stuff does not happen in Australia??? 65 dead and rising ....f*** me!“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0

Very sad news......haven't got the words....
Huge kudo's to all CFA's Guys and gals putting themselves in harms way to protect what they can.
Supposedly any arsonists caught will be charged with murder. Hope they can make it stick. Stupid fuckers. There's no excuse for what they've done!! :evil:I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!0

            65 dead, 700 houses
 it is crazy
 but a week of 40+ temps and topped off with high 40's the other day, there was a real risk of this happening!2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

For sure there was a huge chance of it happening and they were warning and preparing people but they think arseholes have lit some of the fires.... it is just inexcusable!
I had forgotten the CFA; they define what the human fighting spirit is! Much thanks to the CFA and all the emergency services, it is a shit job they have done and will have to do in the coming days. At least the temps have come down.littledee wrote:Huge kudo's to all CFA's Guys and gals putting themselves in harms way to protect what they can.“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0

84 now are confirmed dead with the numbers rising. 700 houses destroyed and 26 fires still burning. My heart goes out to all affected.“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0

I heard about this on the BBC the other night. All the best to our friends downunder. We've had our share of arsonist (deliberate act or not) here in the states as well. Crazy mofos...0

I am so sorry to hear about this tragedy - ongoing I guess. We have been in the midst of our natural disaster - the big ice storm, but it has not claimed near the lives that the fires have, nor have many homes been lost. I am so sorry to hear of this. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals. Ghandi0
