so sad, being an australian abroad it's hard to here this on the evening news and not get angry because the fires were all lit by these people... Ridiculous. They say now 131 dead and the toll will rise :( Makes me angry and very sad the loss of life and especially when the fires weren't natural.

The death toll has now officially reached 166. It is just so large it is impossible to comprehend.

It makes me feel sick and makes me want to hug my kids just that little bit harder.

The only good thing about the media coverage, is that the red cross now have raised over $12 million and the Triple M / Fox were up to $250,000 last I heard.

Today the Cricket in Adelaide will donate all the profits from the game, and all the Aussie players (And I think even NZ) are donating their match fees. Also there will be $100 per run made, and $5,000 per six.

The Friday night AFL game between Essendon and Bulldogs will also be all profits donated.

Great to see everyone pitching in.
Take me for a ride before we leave...

Hard to comprihend at the moment. We get fire every year but there's never been a death toll like this. My thoughts are my southern Brothers and sisters.

These are some Pic's from residents from the area's affected. A picture tells a thousand words

The real nature of people are being revealed in Australia at the moment. Many communities are rallying to donate what they can, all people I know are donating large chunks of their wage this week and so far 45 million has been raised not to mention all the "stuff" plus the CFA, the red cross and all the other volunteers. However one man has been charged with fraud for trying to raise money for the fire to keep for himself (not involved in the fire), people are talking about looters and they are closing in on a man for lighting fires. It seriously breaks my heart that people can be so vile and heartless.

I'm amazed by how generous everyone has been.

I just heard that Kings of Leon, Coldplay and Midnight Oil are playing in bushfire concerts.

Did anyone in Australia watch RSPCA Animal Rescue tonight?
They dedicated the whole show to animals caught up in the fires.

Wow, Melbourne looks awesome. I'm seeing cold play that night, so that will be awesome then I'm seeing Kings of Leon exactly one week later. What a good effort by all those international stars.

Not to mention on the bushfire album Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel have gotten behind it, and Pink Donated $250,000. What are Pearl Jam going to do???
