The decreasing interest in pj posters has much to do with other bands use of superior artists. Its sad to say, but apart from a few (10ish) pj posters the last 9 years, there are much more interesting work being done out there for different bands/events. Pj really need to find new inspiration for their posters and I feel they will not find it with ames.
Brad Klausen is rumored to have parted with 10c. I hope there are little truths to this, cause his talent is sorely needed. He alone was responsible for re-igniting the interest for pj posters again after weak efforts for the 2000+2003 tour. See what some new blood can do!

This has atleast been the road for me. I started with pj posters, now I don't care all that much for them with the exception of a few. There are so many talented and creative artists out there that are much more intersting to follow, and the scene is stronger than ever. I do hope ames will lift their hold on pj posters and share some of the work. This will not only inject new life into pearl jam as a collectible, but it will also be healthy for the market and competition.

Don't get me wrong, Ames has done some wonderful work in the past and been an important player in the game.

    Very good post!

Guy Burwell could do some posters for Pearl Jam. Not many, only 2 or 3 within a tour.
Look at his work for My Morning Jacket in 2008 (Radio City Music Hall, Bonnaroo, Red Rocks).

I love the Ames posters from 1998 (Hartford!) and most of the other Ames work, but a little change would be fine...

Its true I haven mentioned it before, and I mentioned it again now because it had a point in my arguement. I havent read or heard the rumour being confirmed or denied anywhere, but If you know its bullshit then that is great news.

Niko's very right about the quality of the posters though, how many people do you hear who have an ames favourite from after the 98 tour? Not many, Some will however say they love Klausens Hawaii, Easy street etc as their favourite.

A very valid argument, Klausen also created the best work on the last tour also....

I don't think it has anything to do with 'trust', but convenience maybe.

Oh Yes Nikolai, state of love and art, where are we with that?

as you know I got out of the poster scene very quickly at the end of last year on reaching all my goals, and have since kind of lost my way....If the scene is alive and kicking, and I must say you are far better in the know than i am on the other artists theme, then we really should get on that...

hows demand out there for the faireys, obeys, emeks, etc....

While I can't disagree with the post about Ames brothers lack of creativity, I believe that the poster scene is only down because of the economy. People are asking themselves, "Do I need to spend $100+ on a poster?" And the answer, for right now, is No.

The band + the demand of a low run of unique posters are what make these valuable. It will be back when the next album and tour is realeased.

    Good Luck Satanman

So I'm in the process of also dealing w/ Ryan (satanman) but being that I am relatively new to the PJ board community, I'd like to hear from others who have dealt with him. I'm a long-time record trader over at VC and been on eBay for years so I know the importance of being careful. No disrespect whatsoever to Ryan of course.
