With only 2 weeks until pitchers and catchers report, i feel its time to get this mutha rolling. Yankees obviously were the high rollers this offseason, picking up CC, Tex, and AJ. The Giants are looking more and more like contenders in the West. The Rangers might give LA a run at the West. The trash talking between in the NL East between the Phils and Mets sure looks like it will make for a good race, but Chipper and the Braves have other plans. As always the NL Central Race will be a roller coaster ride with 4 teams in contention. The AL East might be the hardest division in baseball. The Yankees obviously will emerge as favorites but the Sox, Rays, O's, and Jays all have legitemate chances this year. The Manny saga continues leaving some to believe he'll end where no one expects. Here's to another awesome season!!! Lets all kick back and enjoy the greatest sport in America. :)

My (most likely wrong) Predictions:

AL East Winners:
Yankees

AL Central Winners:
Twins

AL West Winners:
Rangers

AL Wild Card:
Red Sox

NL East Winners:
Mets

NL Central:
Cubs

NL West:
Giants

NL Wild Card:
Phillies
I will be what i could be
Once I get out of this town

The Giants are looking more and more like contenders in the West.

    NL West:
    Giants

    In 2008:

They finished 22 games under .500
Were 29th out of 30 teams in runs scored.
Were dead last in the MLB in home runs hit (94 ... only 94 home runs ALL YEAR for this team)

Their only off season signings, the erratic Edgar Rentaria and the 45 year old Randy Johnson.

So ... what in the world makes you think they look like contenders?

    :D

you know me, sox fan ... I just live out here ... and marvel that GM Brian Sabean still has a job. The Barry Zito contract still strikes me as the WORST contract ever given to anyone in baseball. (7 year $126M in case you forgot).

All I know is that I'm going to Opening Day of Spring Training for The Beloved Boston Red Sox. Nothing Else matters except the Boston BRUINS winning a Stanley Cup. Every time I do the Red Sox wins a World Series so I can't wait.

Good to see a fellow Tiger fan... I grew up on them, spent my childhood watching them set records for being terrible. That season 2 years ago was such a tease! Anyway, it will be interesting to see if all that money they dropped the other season pays off at all this year. They badly need some consistency this season... they've been plagued by injuries too. I keep hoping they'll dump Roger and Sheffield, but I don't see it happening just yet. Still a bit disappointed that they traded Pudge... that was a poor decision.

Man, I just want my M's to be somewhat competitive in 2009. With a new GM and skipper, it's all kinda up in the air. And after we stunk up the AL west last year, I want the Rangers to return to their rightful place, under the heal of the M's boot.

We'll see. I am (extremely) cautiously optimistic.

    Go M's.

    See the signature.

Pudge's time was coming to an end. I hate that they went and got Firecan Farnsworth though. I like that they sured up some of the defense with Laird behind the plate and Inge at 3rd. Guillen at left might be interesting. It's all about pitching again. Hopefully they get something out of either Robertson or Willis. I'm not as hopeful as last year, so maybe they'll come back and play well. Last year was so disappointing.
    Go Get 'Em Tigers!

I agree with soulsinging, I hated to see Pudge go, but I also agree with Smithnic, I think his time in Detroit was at an end. I think it was ridiculous to get Farnsworth, Pudge was worth much more.
I'm skeptical about Guillen in left. I think with Mags in right and Guillen in left, Granderson is going to have his work cut out for him. Stuck between two guys who aren't the most mobile is going to keep Granderson running hard.

The Texas Rangers, the worst franchise in baseball if not all sport's history, are now the proud owners of the worst batting helmet in history.

I hate this team. They are a laughing stock and can never do anything right.

But they are the home team, so what am I going to do. All of you guys bitching about the Cubs or whoever, just be glad you aren't a Rangers fan.

As a Sox fan I'm more scared of the Rays than the Yankees. I'm not scared of Captain Cheeseburger, Burnett will end up on the DL more than on the mound, and Teixera has played in Texas, Atlanta, and LA....not exactly playing for the Yankees. I like what both the Sox and the Rays did in the off season. Spending short money on Penny, Smoltz, and Baldelli could pay off big time. They also now have the room to take on a "bad" contract at the trading deadline if they need help. They solidified the bullpen in the off season.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

I know Pudge was having a tough time spending whole seasons behind the plate, but he seemed to bring so much to the team in terms of spirit... he had the most heart in the whole club. Somebody needs to step into that leadership role now... cos it won't be Sheffield and much as I love Ordonez... he looks stoned all the time ;) Glad to see Inge staying on though. Their pitching was supposed to be the strength last season!
