Well, we never thought it would happen so soon, but we are bringing a new girl home on Friday. She kind of fell into our laps. Her name will be Grace. Nothing can ever replace Shelby :(, but we can't wait to start loving our new girl!! :D

She'll soon have a big grin on her face!

Best news today! You won't be sorry....getting a new puppy will heal your heart so much quicker! I got Petey only 10 days after my Mason died...it was the single best decision I've ever made for my mental health. He has brought so much joy and love in to my life.

I agree with Cut....do get a crate....best way to train a dog! If you have been out of the loop there are lots of new dog training books out there...no not Ceaser, I don't like his ways, I believe the dog should respect you, but you earn it in a kinder gentler way...and it works! If you want the names of the books....let me know!

Good luck with her, and I LOVE the name!

That's good to hear! It does feel a little wierd to be "moving on"...

We have a crate and we did use it with Shelby, but I'm not sure what is meant by "crate training"..... Shelby slept in her crate at night and was whisked outside every morning to "do business." As I remember, we just followed Shelby when she was in the house and whisked her outside whenever she sniffed or twirled or otherwise indicated it might be time for "business." :D Is there more to "crate training" than just potty training?

No...thats it, just for housebreaking! Don't ever use it for punishment, keep it happy! Have you looked into puppy classes yet? I loved taking Petey to them! It is the greatest way to socialize them with other puppies. After puppy classes we went on to positive dog training with clicker and treat training....that was fun too! Who says training a dog has to be hard?! Goldens are so mellow and good, bet you get her 100% ob trained before Petey is...Dobies are very willful, and males don't mature until after the age of 2!

    So happy for you!

Shelby was a breeze to potty train. I'm hoping Grace will be the same :p. We took Shelby to OB school - mostly for socialization. She was very young. I don't know if there are "puppy classes" around here. The OB school was all ages. But, yeah, Goldens are about as easy as it gets. They try real hard to please!

I'm already looking forward to first walk, first swim, first trip through the car wash :p, etc!

Good news ~ Marley was found today! He is completely covered in ticks, but otherwise OK after his week long adventure.

He's back home with his daddy where he belongs :)

I couldn't be happier for either of them. They are both lost without eachother.

Its a good day! Marley must have had 500 ticks on him...no exaggeration. But he is safe :)

We get to pick up Grace this Friday!! (that's her with the purple collar)

I can't believe I'm buying Simple Solution and Bitter Apple again! :p

So, I've bought food, cleaned the crate, cleaned her dog run, turned my back seat back into the "dog suite" :p and bought the "accident" products. We still have to get a little collar and dog tags. What am I forgetting?

:D Nope... well they're my sisters dogs but they lived with me for a year when she did so I consider them part of the family. Well Bran never lived with me but Wolfie (who I'm sure I posted earlier in this thread) and Princess did.
