The ending of Withnail & I makes me want to cry... which is weird considering that it's supposed to be a comedy. When Withnail recites Hamlet's "What is this quintessence of dust?" soliloquy in the rain at the end it's heartbreaking.

I tend to find unusual films really sad. One of the most heartbreaking scenes I can think of in any film is this, in which De Niro doesn't speak one single word but says more than in any other scene in the film:

"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

    Not mine.

While it certainly wasn't a cinematic masterpiece, I thought it was ok.
