I don't see how the fact some people who were not there can see the performance later in ANY way can diminish the enjoyment of the people actually attending the show.
if it does bother you, I categorise this as selfish and elitist.. you only can enjoy it if other people don't?
and don't believe either there will be a DVD (I don't mind), nor even an audio (I do mind :()
It's not selfish or elitist. It's selfish for people to hold up cameras and cell phones and take away from the experience of the people who are there and to distract the artist.
I think it is selfish and elitist to think you are entitled to see and/or hear everything the band does. It's not that I can only enjoy it if other people can't. I did not say anything remotely like that. I was pointing out that it is cool for there to be something that happens at a certain moment in time with music and is shared by the people experiencing it, rather than everyone texting their friends and filming it with their cellphones. Just enjoy the show."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

That sums it up. People are more interested in getting people to their myspace page or showing off the great video they got than just enjoying the show. Not to even mention the copyright violations."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
sheesh, not everyone can go to cali, or the east coast to see ed and pearl jam.. why the hell are they taking these down, that is BULLSHIT!
I bet ed would want them on youtube!0 -

I bet Ed asked them to take them down.
Newsflash, not everyone went to a lot of shows. No one is entitled to see Pearl Jam/Ed everytime they hit the stage in a crappy video for free."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
I still love people who use the flash to take pictures at a show or event, they must not realize that the flash doesn't do a damn bit of good if you are more than 6 to 8 feet away from what you are taking a picture of.
As for taking the YT videos down... good. The 10C stated a no camera/no recording policy and I'm glad to see they are sticking by it. Do I think they are going to release a DVD or bootlegs?? No. But what I do think is that Ed knew a bunch of covers that he wanted to do during the tour and to do them I think he went out and asked permission or at least some clearance in using them maybe with the caveat that they COULD possibly be released later. And because of this, Ed, management, the original artists want to cut down on and eliminate 2nd rate pirated copies of these solo shows and protect their copyrights. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Good point about the covers."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
When standing in line around 6pm last night, one of the head security people came out and said, "If any of you MUST take photos, please do it discreetly and do NOT use a flash. And no video taping...DO NOT use a flash...pictures are OK, but no flash..."
This caused a bit of confusion because when getting frisked, I was told there was to be absolutely NO photography or video...
Mixed messages for sure...At any rate, I did not have my camera and I don't know how to get the photos off my phone....
The security people were actually very nice at the Centre...and I am never very fond of security people....
But - Ed ROCKED! It was all good - everything about both shows!be philanthropic0 -

After all of the signs in the venue, the announcement in the lobby, the posts on this board, not to mention Eddie saying it himself, is this not enough to get through to people!! I wouldn't be surprised if the people recording were the same folks yelling "we love you Eddie" every 30 seconds....
I swear the people saying "We love you Eddie" all night long are probably the same people that have been to about 50 shows. Same ones that hang out at the Venue for 4 hours after the show to tell Ed about their new dog they just got named "Vedder"Seems like when ever you hear a bootleg and here "We love you Eddie" it's the same people. Quite sad really.
It kinda reminds me of this, unfortunately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awKoTDIdKrgNERDS!0 -

why would anyone be so daft as screaming that out (even if it's true)... don't you know anything about Ed? how he really doesn't like that kind of attention?
and grown men doing that too!!
but, no, I don't think most of the people doing that are 50+ shows fans or whatever. none of the people I met in that category or likely to get there, and that's most of the PJ fans I know, which is a lot, would do something like that! they're all in it for the music, and don't shout out crap between songs and that kind of crap.0 -
even if you listen to what ed said in response to the bloody whiner who was complaing about security hassling him.ed never said i agree security is too tight and you should be able to take pics.he never said anything of the kind.he basically just shoved a soother in the guys mouth to shut him up.
sometimes i wonder how old some fans are. the guy whining at nite 1 should have been escorted out...period.
he was distracting to others and distracting to ed as well probobly."shes stoned said the swede, and the
mooncalf agreed" THe BANd0 -

I'm not talking about the fans like yourself Pegasus. There are those fans though that aren't on the message board, know nothing of us, and go to just as many shows as we do. It's a small percentage, but all it takes is 1 crazy fan in a venue of this size to annoy a large amount of people. 99% percent of us are cool, down to earth, about 1% are scary, that's what I'm trying to say.

I find it funny that you assume that anyone being an idiot fan and screaming stupid shit must not be on this message board. There are all kinds here.0 -

Not saying that. I'm sure there are. Just a small percentage, and the ones I've met don't do it. That's what I'm sayin.NERDS!0 -

What ever happened to 'spread the jam'?0 -

I spread it everywhere.
I just think over-obsessing is a little ridiculous, that's all.
It should be about the music and friendships. Maybe I'm just weird :rolleyes:NERDS!0 -

Being in australia with nil chance to see The Ed shows I would have loved to see some footage, But I do respect the right of Ed to hold onto whatever footage should be available. I really hope that a DVD is made of these shows. Im spewing that he isnt touring here with this stuff.
I reckon we have been spoilt for many years, so I respect their wish's completelyAUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE0 -

The policy is one thing. If the 10C is instructed to act according to it they don't really have a choice here.
But to go on and condemn taping shows is a whole different story.
I really really love live recordings part of the reason being the fact that i really got into Janis Joplin years ago and the boots, even crappy quality from the 60's recorders, were the really fun, her real legacy and needles to say even the professionally recorded are not being released.
With Ed's shows is kind of similar since i don't think he's going to do big tours regularly and from what I've heard/seen he's doing damn good and it would be a true shame to miss.
As for PJ bootlegs, now that they don't release them anymore, let us not forget that the recording can be the 1st time you actually got to hear the band depending in where you were in the venue.
Is about the music not about voyeurism. Ed knows it, he used to tape shows himself. This isn't the reason of the new policy.I knew who I was before other people started telling me who I was. J.Joplin0
