Well, say what you want about us, but that doesn't change the fact that you, sir, are a dick.
That is the best post on here. I don't think any of us were claiming to be saints.. I know I am not but there are just some low things to do... and sure he didn't get that room but still. And Vedd Head, also well said. Thank you!!0 -
Who else has done good or bad things is beside the point. You started the thread about something you did. What did you expect people to say? I hope you never have to use a wheelchair. I work with some people who do. I bet they'd take getting a smaller room if they could walk.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

lol. I know! I love it.
People, if you don't want to hear opinions that differ from your own, then don't post your damn story on a message board that is visited by hundreds or thousands of people from all over the world. :rolleyes:0 -

Let me say that I do respect the opinions of the people in here even though I do not know them personally. I do feel bad for trying to get a room by pulling that stunt. But for the record, I did not get one of those rooms, I got and paid for a suite. The hotel is not making exceptions b/c of the wheelchair BS.
As I said before none of you are perfect and none of you can say you never done anything wrong so go easy people okay? We all have skeletons in our closet, I'm just the stupid one to post them sometimes. LOL

So it IS true, people actually do this. Hmm, what to say, what to say?
Tell you what, so that you're not breaking the law (and so that I can kick your arse) how about I take that room?'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

Have any of them been disabled from birth? Why do you assume they give a rats ass whether they can walk or not?'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

It's not the getting of the wheelchair room that bugs me, it's that the hotel obviously kept aside that 1 room in case someone with a wheelchair actually needed it but you still bugged them until it was yours. Fair enough if you feel cheeky and they have a few going spare (not entirely moral, but not that bad), but keeping on at it as if you really needed that room is going a bit far in my humble opinion. And really, if you want to pull a stunt like that you shouldn't come onto a public forum and gloat about it...Paul

Of course she meant no harm, I didn't say that at all. I was merely interested in that point she was making. I meant no harm either.
That said, I know several people who have been disabled from birth (like myself) and for them, wishing you could walk is akin to wishing you were blonde, or your skin was black. The idea that walking = 'better' is an inadequate, and usually able-bodied-centric, view. We're not talking about wheelchairs having their 'plus points' but we are talking about human beings being proud of themselves for what they are and perfectly happy in their own skin.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

Heineken Helen wrote:Oh no, I get ya! I, too, don't mean any harm... but I would just imagine life would be easier to not be in a wheelchair... like not having to put up with any prejudices or patronising shit being one thing... but sometimes that can make you a stronger person anyway.
Everyone has prejudices against everyone, not just people in wheelchairs.. you know that, of course.. Black face prejudice, as do Asians, but neither group wishes they were white. Women often face discrimination in work and in the home.. I don't hear you wishing you were a man. I've met Simon and I know for a fact you're a very happy heterosexual woman. We need to start thinking of disabled people as a people group, a subculture, rather than a fringe collection of disadvantaged poor.
Let's just say that there are things I wish were different about me but none of them involve being able to walk.. I wish I could live by the sea, for example.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. Or any OTHER 'group' of people for that matter... grouping people into sections is what leads to prejudices.

I agree with that entirely.. yet we cannot argue that in our society there 'are' differences between disabled and able-bodied, it's just that the differences don't lie where able-bodied people often think they do.. It's not about walking/not walking. The prejudices are the problem, not the disabilities. It's society's problem, not ours. Prejudices are lumped on disabled people from the outside, by the able-bodied. Imagine if disability suddenly became 'normal', that no one assumed that 'sometimes they wish they were different.' None of this 'grouping people into sections' would exist at all.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

Don't worry, there's one thing that arguing and refuting points can never be... and that is patronsing.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

hahaha I was trying to think of how to word this! thanks Vedd Hedd.
I was thinking like "no, actually, I have never done anything wrong." and then the first and only thing that came to my mind was that I often leave my cell phone charger plugged in.
I'd never, ever do something like this.
and really, it's been said, but the bragging about it is almost to the point of being hilarious. I mean I can imagine someone parking in a handicapped parking spot, which is pretty a pretty shitty thing to do (we've all seen that seinfeld...) but I can't imagine them then going and being all like "me, one, parking lot, zero, lol"0 -
Wonder if the OP is going to try and get these tickets now...
