Fat people should be banned from marriage too.

And I just checked my badass hefty dictionary and not once in a multi-item entry for 'marriage' does Collins mention religion.
It is the relationship between a husband and wife. Now I want to hear an anti-gay marriage christian telling me that Urbanhippie was never a wife and never had a husband.
off topic just a touch...
i love the fact the you mentioned your hefty badass dictionary.

And to keep topic integrity, the weight and dimensions of my dictionary are just right for beating all those who think gay marriage is wrong around the head until they repent."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

I too have an extremely large dic
tionary. Seriously. I stole it from the last place I worked. Very old edition but I can't remember as it is home right now. Weighs no less than 25 pounds and is three times thicker than any other dictionary I have seen. So, my question is - did we lose a fuckin' bunch of words somewhere along the way or what? I mean, I know people are getting dumber by the second, but are words vanishing as well?Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Anyone who thinks homosexuality is "learned" is probably ashamed the fact that they themselves have homosexual urges.walkunafraid wrote:Anybody who thinks homosexuality is "learned" is a complete moron.
Nobody taught me to be straight. I developed crushes on Wonder Woman and Princess Leia long before I even knew what sex was.
If you think it is learned and can be unlearned, than your hiding that fact that you are Bi or even a homosexual yourself. Any real straight person can tell you its not learned. There's chemicals in our brains that just go nuts when straight guys see big breasts, curvy hips. That is not learned. That is genetic and an essential part of human survival.0 -

I'm probably way too late for this but no... marriage is not the religious ceremony, not in the eyes of the law. Me and my ex had a church ceremony but were not legally married until we signed a register in the registry office.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I don't see the big deal about the ban. In the states that people have voted on referendums to change it, they were all voted down.
Maybe it would be more fair to allow it, then have it get voted down, but seriously, its one of the relatively few laws people have voted individually on, so you can't really argue with it.
That's sour grapes. I think marijuana should be legal, especially alcohol is sold in half the gas stations you go in. If people voted on it, it would get passed.
I honestly don't care either way about the gay thing. For the record, to my recollection, I have never had a homosexual urge, so not everybody gets them. I think the way a person is raised can also have an effect on their sexual orientation.0 -

Ah yes, you beat me to it
It might be useful to mention that according to Judao-Christian history, marriage was purely an issue of law (albeit Jewish Law) for hundreds, thousands of years.. Marriage only became called a 'religious ceremony' after Christ. Before that there was no concept of religious ceremony and marriage. Marriage was just 'done'. And now Christians think they have the monopoly on it... which is strange. It's fine to add a Christian element if one wants to (if it adds significance for the believing couple, for example) but people need to understand that it is added, it's not inherent, and it certainly doesn't make it 'marriage' according to the law.
Edit: In fact, if the Christian right want to do it 'right', we'd better all go back to the days of betroathals as well.. Only then will we be doing it properly.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

How can you say legalising marijuana is the same thing as legalising gay marriage? Are you fucking ON marijuana right now?? Put it down...
And what, so you've never had a homosexual urge so who gives a shit, right?'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

um, yes.....already exists - it's called LEGAL MARRIAGE.
when one goes and gets a marriage license and then has the marriage performed and witnessed...whether by a judge, a minster, prient, rabbi...whomever......non-religious or religious...your choice......THAT is your legally binding agreement. i DID have a religious wedding, mostly for the tradition of it, for my parents....and sure...i was young.
for me though, it's the legal aspect that i appreciate. i don't need to announce to a god or others my love and devotion...but i DO fully appreciate one handy legal document binding us together, and all the rights and responsibilities it affords us as a couple. just like that.

it's the same here. without a marriage license, the marriage isn't legally recognized. no need for a seperate ceremony, although i guess you could do so if you desire.....but you just need the LEGAL marriage license, whether you have a religious ceremony or not.Stay with me...

Fat sex is just as gross as gay sex.

It will work out in the long run since it will motivate them to lose weight.
Argument 4:
Being fat isn't natural.
Please note if you didn't get it, that I do not feel this way but rather this is a satire on the ridiculousness of banning gay marriage.ok THIS thread takes the cake at being hilarious thread number 2 after the bears thread by patrickredeyes!!!!

i am really disappointed that i have not read a post from dunk yet stating that then no americans would be able to marry and thus further break down our country's family values.

i am going to guess that the OP is american. so to be fair, gay marriage is legal in 2 states, and there are also a few states that allow gay civil unions. this is an issue handled at the state level, as it's the states that issue marriage licences, so it is not a country-wide thing, across the board. there are many things that are determined state-by-state....so thus you'll have 50 different things going on. however, it is customary for one state to honor marriage licenses issued in another state....so i would imagine that a gay couple who marrys in CT would get recognized as married elsewhere, so so how it should work. also, it's my understanding that even in CA, where the ban is back in effect, that gay marriages performed in that state before the ban will still be recognized as legal.Stay with me...
