    A lot of places even organise speed dating and stuff like that for valentines night... cos pubs and clubs won't really attract couples so they need to do something to get fill up. It is actually a BRILLIANT night to be single... MUCH better than sitting in feeling sorry for yourself :)

    eh I won't be sitting in feeling sorry for myself. I'll probably just be sitting in doing whatever it is do on weeknights.

    :D It's foolproof though... any other night of the week you can't be sure if the guy you meet is single or not... but valentines night or over valentines weekend, the majority of guys in a relationship is gonna be with their SO so you're pretty sure that at least MOST of the guys are single and there for the taking :)

    I don't feel sorry for myself...especially not in terms of being single. I don't know whether it's because I'm so drugged up or what, but I have no interest in men at the moment.

    Just another reason to get someone a gift. Between Christmas and a January birthday, my boyfriend makes out. I'm not getting him anything. I am already getting him a PSP for his birthday, that is quite enough.

    Last year, he did bring a boquet of purple flowers to my job. Now that is sweet!

    There doesn't have to be something wrong with ya because you've no interest in men right now. God I've gone for a couple of years with no interest in men... and it never felt like there was something wrong with me. I used that time to get to know myself a bit better... and it was probably one of the most important phases of my life.

    yeah I mean on a practical level it's because I have too much other stuff to do like get back in shape and deal with my disaster of a financial situation. on another level, I just don't feel attraction anymore, and that's where it's probably more of a medical thing. I'm pretty sure it's because I've been on the pill for 8 years straight- there was one month about 2 years ago when I didn't take it and I wanted every guy I saw. other than that, I've been like "eh." Which, I have to say was a bit of a problem during the 9 months I had a boyfriend.

    I can't help but wonder if the pill could be the cause of alot of your problems? Cos alot of them seem to be a problem with embracing your femininity... and I don't think that's much to do with how you look. But the pill CAN completely fuck you up hormonally.

    It can... there's lots about the pill people don't know til it happens. I ended up pretty much suicidal for no reason and I knew it had to be the pill... came off it and within a couple of weeks I was fine. It really fucked me up for a while. I don't trust it at all and would never go back on it.

    I don't disagree that there are side effects, I just find it hard to believe that having no interest in men is one of them. But, that's my opinion on it, I could be very wrong. I'll have to ask my doc. There are many other factors for that. From my OWN experiance, I have never had any problems, I'm a humping dog with or without them. I prefer to have them though. Plus now, there are SOOOOOO many pills to choose from, many with a lower dosage of hormones, it that IS the problem, it can be resolved with an office visit. Just another excuse, IMO. :)

    it certainly can. the pill basically works by sort of mimicking pregnancy hormonally. when you are pregnant you are less receptive to the subtle biological functions that attract you to the opposite sex. the pill is known to decrease sex drive, it is a very common side effect. Of course, this will vary across individuals, types of pills, etc. And I also take fluoxetine, which would definitely add to that (though given my experience of that one month, not taking the pill, I think it's the pill lol). You know the theory that people are attracted to a certain smell of individuals of the opposite sex that signals that they are of unrelated DNA (so that their offspring will have a better chance at a diverse immune system)? They've found that women on the pill do not have this response to men's smell. I think it's totally plausible.

    possibly... but when I came off it I swore I'd never go back on. Ya just take this thing every day and have NO idea what you're putting into yourself... it's all hormones...and when ya fuck around with hormones you've no idea WHAT could happen :D

    I've never heard of losing interest in men either but I wouldn't be surprised... I really just don't trust them. I can see the obvious benefits ;) but I'm just not going to take that risk and do that to myself again.

    I'm so glad I'm not a chick. Listen to all the pill talk and how it can fuck you up. An ex of mine couldn't take the pill at all. It would just fuck her all up.
