this post is in each of the lost season threads. i know i posted something like this after i power watched the first season on dvd.
you'll get used to the commercials. at least the noise going to them gives you a queue.0 -

to be honest, i really haven't read much about it or thought about it for that matter.0 -
I was really tired last night and missed a lot of stuff apparently. The one thing I really liked is that Hurley was highlighted. He seems to reached a turning point with last season's finale. He is taken initiative, making decisions, and acting rather than just following. I think this is good. I kinda felt his character was underused as an afterthought or for comic relief in the past. His connection to the #s is too big for him to not play a prominent role in how this story plays out.
Like everyone else I'm really, really wondering who the other 3 from "The Oceanic 6" are. So many possibilities. Just started wondering if Michael and/or Walt could end up being part of the 6.
Gonna go re watch last night's episode now.Brian0 -

Okay, sorry for the caps, but Hurley is seeing visions which make him think that "they need me (Hurley)". Jack asks Hurley if he plans on telling anyone.. TELLING ANYONE WHAT?
My ideas?
An innocent dies, and it's basically Jack's fault. OR.. They hide the fact that 30 or so other people survived and jump on the chopper/boat without telling them. OR... I don't know!
I'd say, 6 make a deal to get off the island, screwing over their fellow 815 friends. Some of those friends will die, others they just leave behind. As part of the deal (or some pact they make), the 6 aren't allowed to talk about anything island related. This is why Charlie tells Hurley "they" need him, making Hurley want to go back. Its what makes Hurley and eventually Jack, feel guilty, and want to go back. I'm sure in Kate's flashforward she will eventually want to go back, etc until all 6 want to go back. We've heard Jack say he's tired of lying. We've heard him worry about Hurley talking. We've heard that black guy ask Hurley if "they" were really all dead.0 -
I didn't watch seasons two or three of Lost, but did happen to catch the last 15 minutes or so of season three's finale. I was left on the edge of my seat. I watched again last night, and I am totally hooked! It was incredible! Luckily, the the first hour was a recap, but I'm still confused as hell. I really want to watch what happens in seasons two and three, so I think I'll have to rent them and have a power Lost weekend in the near future.
I actually enjoyed Eli Stone, at least enough to tune in again next week.No time to be void or save up on life. You got to spend it all.0 -

It doesn't spoil who the remaining 3 are. I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

ok, so i'm just watching again and didn't notice the first time that in the first scene when he's watching the news, jack spiked his orange juice. looks like he picked up drinking pretty soon after leaving the island.......
also...pretty sure that wasn't locke that popped up in the window when hurley was looking in the house. the guy that popped up had brown eyes...0 -

Good catch. I also noticed Jack's reaction to seeing the red camaro and that he knew it was Hurley. It makes me wonder if Hurley had other incidents besides the one shown last night.
Also, I mentioned this to Mer last night, but if the island can cure Rose's cancer and Locke's paralysis, how come the island didn't cure Hurley's mental health?
I mean he was in a mental institution before the island, saw Dave on the island and is now seeing Charlie. Just another question to add to the list.- Busted down the pretext

plus he's seeing charlie because he's not really dead!
i wonder if rose's cancer will come back once she leaves the island?0 -

I wonder that too about Rose and Locke - whether they will go back to their original state if they leave the island.
Maybe Locke is paralyzed again and that drives him to kill himself and that is why Jack is upset about the man who died last year. He's blaming himself for the death and obviously Locke is not his friend or family.
One of the spookiest scenes last night was the way the cabin was spinning in Hurley's head. And btw, I agree with you. I don't think it was Locke's eye Hurley saw in Jacob's cabin. I think it was Jacob's eye. So he must have some connection with the island. Plus he knew about the "numbers" for a long time before ever reaching the island so the island chose him.
This is just a random question, but how come Rousseau neve found any of the stuff in 16 years our gang has found in 3 months. You would think eventually you would just explore the island.- Busted down the pretext

Two things on Rousseau either finding or not finding the cabin.
1) She was basically a refugee. Probably being hunted by "the others" therefore kept in a small area that she knew to be safe, or at least safer than the rest of the island.
2) Maybe she did come across it and it just hasn't been mentioned.Abraham Lincoln once said, "If you are a racist, I will attack you with the North."0 -

nfanel wrote:that's my guess. her only concern was always to find her daughter. wasn't really interested in socializing or chitchatting with the survivors.
True, but when she captured Ben, she sure turned him over to Jack pretty quickly. You think she would have tried to get some info out of Ben (i.e. torturing Ben a bit) regarding her daughter.
I know I bring this up from time to time, but we really need a Rousseau flashback. She just has too many mysteries around her.- Busted down the pretext

But Hurley isn't really crazy though so he doesn't need to be cured. Plus, a lot of other people saw visions who aren't crazy off the island (jack, kate)."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
Solat13 wrote:He's blaming himself for the death and obviously Locke is not his friend or family.
That's why I think Locke is a good choice for who is in the coffin because he is not friend or family and from what I remember from his flashbacks it makes senses that no one would come to his funeral because of how isolated he was."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Well, he imagine Dave before he went to the island. So I think that qualifies him as having some sort of disorder.- Busted down the pretext

You asked why didn't the island cure him of his so-called disorder. If he did have this then the island could have cured him, but he could still have visions since the majority of people have had visions on the island."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Okay thanks. I was just worried I'd see episode 3 - Sawyer flashforward and it would spoil that he got off the island etc
I wonder how far into the season until they reveal who was in the coffin. I still think its Michael, but Locke is also a really good guess.0 -
Why did Hurley think that saying he was on the flight enough for the police to stop arresting him?
Even if the 6 made a deal, that doesn't explain why Hurley thinks he can do crazy shit then get out of it purely because hes one of the survivors. I don't think the 6 made a deal, but were forced out somehow. Either by Dharma, the rescuers or the others. Jack, Kate and Hurley are 3 of the front runners of the team. So maybe they were exploring or something and then got captured and taken out. I can't think of a situation where the 6 would choose to leave everyone else, especially Jack.
Michael will probably be an important piece in this series, he's the only one to leave before the situation blew up with the others and the rescuers. What he did when he got back to humanity could be one of the pivotal twists of the season. I hope he didn't just leave as an excuse for him to quit.Paul
